Finally got my recall done at 33,000 miles. So far so good, no drop in MPG noticed. 2022 Rubicon

Mine dropped 3-4 mpg and I took it back to the dealership. They performed a software update and was right back where I was prior to the swap. I have noticed my highway mpg is up 1-2 mpg.
What version did they flash you to? Should be on the work order.

Is anyone experiencing terrible fuel mileage after the Hpfp recall? I was consistently getting 17 mpg around town and 20 highway, but since the recall i can’t get 13mpg in town and struggle to get 16 highway. This is based off of hand calculations. I’m not ruling out the possibility of winter blend fuel being the culprit but I’ve never had such a drastic change with the fuel in any diesel truck I’ve owned. Anyone else seeing this?
Yes. It’s the worse thing I could’ve done. Huge mistake on my part to trust these jealous untouchable, unaccountable mechanics. I went from 20 mpg combined with 37” ko2‘s to 17 mpg combined. Just did a long trip to try to open the diesel engine up but it got even worse. Highway was 16.8. If anyone knows of any corrective guidance I’d appreciate it. Thanks

Put a tune on it …

that’s pretty bad mileage. I’d got about 21mpg at worst with 37” KO2 (Mopar lift) on my last ‘21 diesel, as good as 25. This truck did NOT have the recall done.

my current ‘23 diesel, I have no lift and 35” tires and get about 24-27mpg. This truck was built with the new pump, judging my the manufacturer build date and the stickers limiting to B05

Was looking at the banks - derringer with pedal monster but I didn’t want to take even more of a hit on mpg with that tune. I won’t ever have it deleted. One of the main reasons why I purchased the JT eco diesel was for the MPG I could get on 37’s. Unpopular opinion but I pay attention to cost at the pump (thats why I didn’t buy the trx)

Does a self install tune drop MPG even more.

I just feel as if I shouldve never done the recall on the hpfp

The GDE tune is legal and will add a couple more MPG. Improve power, efficiency and longevity. Not as much as a full delete tune.

installing the GDE tune essentially erased the recall tune and plus all the other improvements done on that tune.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I’ll definitely look into the GDE. It’s def between the two tunes.

Traveling today. On a trip from south of Pittsburgh to Denver for MIL funeral service. Fuel mileage from home to KC was 24 mpg. 70 mph speed limit. Today from KC to Denver, 14.4 mpg. Speed limit was 75 mph. Had a 50 mph headwind all the way to Limon Co. The trany never seen 8th gear until Limon. The wind was so bad, that going down hill. The trany stayed in 7th trying to maintain 75 mph. The wind even ripped the right front inner fender liner at the front. Had to hold the steering wheel about 30 degrees to the left to go straight. Never figure I would see this kind of fuel mileage.
