Just got my first Gladiator! Need help on mods new to jeeps

Hello everyone!
I just got this jeep gladiator overland and I want to do a couple things to it! So to start of I want to lift it not an excessive lift but for it to look nice. And of course a set of wheels I’m not sure what offset, width to get since I’m not to this platform I come from the Mustang 5.0 world and it’s completely different lol. Another thing is tire sizing when I do get wheels I’d like to know what should I run! And if you guys have any suggestions on what I should do to it let me know!

How do you plan on using your new Jeep? That will determine mods like amount of lift and style of tires to run.

I always chose protection first, mudflaps, floor mats and a bed mat.

Many people with Rubicons or Mojaves upgrade their wheels and tires, buying their take offs can be a good way to upgrade your truck, an inch or so of lift for clearance and looks may be enough.

So I have weather floor mats already, bed matt aswell I plan on probably once or twice a month taking it to the trails! Thanks for the help

How much do you want to spend?

A 2" coil spacer lift is about $400-500 in parts. Or if you want a little taller and more noticeable lift, around 3-4" of lift can be done for about $1,500-2,000 minimum in parts.

For tires, 35" is about the tallest you should go with your stock 3.73 axle gears.

For wheel offset, do you want the tires tucked under the flares or do you want them to stick out? If you're going to run a 12.50 wide tire, they'll have to stick out at least a little.

I would focus of first aid, fire extinguisher, a recovery kit (tow strap, snatch block, tree saver, gloves, etc.) And go wheeling and then see what else you may what to do for modifications based on the type of wheeling you'll be doing.

Welcome to the Gladiator forum and congrats on your new rig. Lots of good advice and information here. With the Jeep you will find tons of aftermarket products available. I suggest take your time do your research in determining what you need/want then do things once. Have a good time making the Gladiator yours and enjoy the Jeep Community!

Everything is a compromise. Big tires and a lift add ground clearance which can help off road, but on-road performance and handling suffer and make it harder to get in. Etc. What's best for somebody else may or may not be best for you. Drive the truck for awhile, both on and off road, and you'll get a better sense of what you need.

I assume it is a used Overland and I know I am just getting old and with old eyes but that overland looks like it might be lifted already??
Take a picture of your suspension and also check if there are any plastic or metal
spacers under or above the spring, and there might be tags on the springs to show you if it is a factory spring. No worries I’m just old. Jeep does look good though…Jack

Maybe look at some pics to get an idea how much lift you think you want.

Mine is an Overland based model and I'm running a Clayton 2.5" Ride Right lift with 35" Goodyears. Here is how it sits:

I drove and wheeled my JT for 2yrs without any mods. You’ll be surprised how capable these JT’s when they’re stock. Take it to a trail and see the limits and that’ll dictate your lift and tire size. Here’s mine now with AEV 2” spacer lift and skinny 37” Nitto Recon Grappler tires look. I picked the skinny 37s so that I can keep my stock wheels and 4.10 gears for now. Everything else are mostly stock. My type of wheeling is desert running and exploring with almost no rock crawling.
