In my humble opinion, for those of us geared at 5.13 or greater these new tires have to be the top choice.
Reasons:
Lighter than my current 37's and all 12.5/13.5's
Quieter (I'm thinking) than my current KM3s
Great load carrying rating
High quality manufacturer
It's likely the biggest tire one could safely run with D44's
Narrower is always better for traction
Better fuel economy in lieu of 12.5 or 13.5-inch wide flat plate drag-producing wind blocks
They would look great on a 3.5-4.5" lifted Gladdy
Probably last longer than a full-on mud tire

Of all the Nitto's the ridge grapplers are my least favorite.. If Toyo decides to build this with a different compound or tread, I'd happily buy them.

My JL is Diesel and My wife’s JT Is diesel, No regear for me unless I move to 1 tons and 40’s. I am going to get the Green Diesel Tune on my JL soon too.
I wish there was more options in 38’s, 11.5/12.5/and 13.5

I had to get new tires just last week and had @Discount Tire prices match a set of Hankook DynaPro XT 37x12.5r17. I’m still in the honeymoon phase so far with them but all I can say so far is WOW. I really wanted something with the 3 peak rating living in the Sierra. These are d load range, 3 ply sidewall, 70lbs, 50k Factory Warranty and I scored a set of 5 installed for $1499. Plus they don’t hold rocks like the ko2 did and’s they are quieter, ride smoother and are better in every terrain I’ve been in so far.

I just couldn’t stomach spending almost $500 a tire on Mickey Thompson or the Toyo RT 38

If you somehow solved the age-old wide vs narrow tire debate, you will be a legend.

I wouldn't venture to claim anything that lofty!
But
I am comfortable with the things I believe and hold to be true.
Keeps things much simpler!

I run the Nitto RG 37 x 11.5. Extremely happy with the tire. Thoughts on whether their 38 will fit in the stock spare location? Storing it in the bed is a non-starter for me.

We’re trying for 37x11.5 but are definitely not excited about the Ridge Grapplers. Wish more manufactures would make 37/38x11.5’s.
The 37x11.50 is the Recon Grappler, it’s less aggressive than the Ridge Grappler and more of an all terrain option for light trucks.

I have 37 x 11.5 r18 Ridge Grappler. They are mounted in my JL Sahara 18” wheels. They are not the Recon Grappler.

My 38x13.5x17 Toyo Open Country M/T barely fits in the stock location, even after installing a Clayton Offroad track bar and removing the exhaust heat shield. I'm sure the 38 would fit, but it would be closer to the exhaust pipe. It also would not hang down as far as the 13.5 does.

Those sound like a great option and hard to beat at that price.
Were you using the KO2 in a C or D load range 37x12.50R17?
The C load at 63 lbs seems to be the lightest option for a 37 currently.

D load range at 69lbs I believe, I hated that they barely measured 35” mounted. I know no tire measures what is advertised especially when mounted but come on, almost 2” smaller!

These Hankooks are d load Range and only 1lb heavier, start at 17/32” vs ko2 at 15/32” and measure 35 13/16” mounted.

This is the price I had discount match.

I have them on my stock Mojave and they are great. Taller than stock but no tire rub. Mounted to the stock wheels a real PITA. Great in the snow. Had to get some running boards to get in and out.

Do you have any photos?
Was the height an issue for balancing on the stock wheels?
