Just got quoted $3700 for 4.88 regear. Getting my chain yanked?

I did my 5.13's re-gear at Premier West Gears in Riverside, CA. I believe I paid around $1600-1700. They had a sale going on. They did also did my JK back when I had it. Great shop.

Just for perspective - I just bought 2 Rubi axles (M210/M220) with factory lockers and 5.38 Spicer gears for $3500 from a forum member and another $300 shipping. I could install these but I’m paying my shop because its too cold.

I was there basically the whole day, they have a lounge area with TV and wifi. This was 2 years ago. I went with Motive gears, had it on my JK.

I was just quoted $4,750 for re-gear with Revolution 5:13 with REM coating. As this is HIGH, I asked how many hours labor was estimated...told 12.5.?? I didn't even ask about installing a front e-locker.
Does anyone have recommendations for a good shop in Missouri to contact?
Mojave 3.6 gas/8 spd auto with locker rear and currently 4:10 ratio.

How much do you expect that to cost? It would be high around here but not outrageous. South of Atl

Looks like some people are getting ripped off on gear changes. Materials cost everyone about the same. The labor time required is about 10 hours plus or minus just for the gear changes. I don't see where $4000 plus is a reasonable cost for the work. So it depends on one's pain level I guess when deciding to do it or not.

Guy near me is still at 1500$ ish for labor. Said he would do axles at same time for same price basically. So that 4700 seems super high. Like I've said before, there are some really high priced places out there.

That seems very high, considering you can get brand new complete Curry HD 60 axles loaded with all the goodies for under $10k front end rear. These are custom designed and built with huge disk brakes, high clearance with low friction bottom plat, plus 8 lug for extra heavy duty.

I think you are mistaken on this......

They have a pair of axles in the picture with a $9500 price next to/below it. If you actually build out a pair w/ Elockers it's really $19,600!

Pretty much any compete front axle assy that is bolt in ready is $10K+.

the axles come with lockers. They have portal axles that are very pricey at $29,990! But all have multiple options built in as you choose and request.
