I have the itch to go to 35s. However my main concern is drivability. Majority of driving is work commute. A small amount of towing a 1800lb boat. Small amount of overlanding. I have 2025 Gladiator nighthawk with 3.73 gears, 8 speed auto, and dana 44 wide axles. The safe bet is going 285/75 but I love the stance of the 35s. I will be adding a 1.5" teraflex level.

Given your use case I'd put the 285/75 on there. It's narrower and probably won't impact driving manners and fuel mileage quite the way the 315 (35) will.

Though, I've gotten old(er) and boring and even after wheeling my truck some I just don't need 35s no matter how cool I think they look.

Oh, depends on the wheel size I guess as well. Nighthawks come with 20s and a 285/75 is typically a 17" tires, so I'm guessing you bought, or are buying wheels, and narrow ish tires may look a little funny on a wide wheel.

But I come from the camp of 'narrower wheel, wider tire' as I like the somewhat squeezed look of a 285/70 or even a 315/70 on a stock wheel.

Personally, I wouldn't go 35's. I'm not sure what you're running right now (maybe stock 20s), but IMO the Gladiator needs at least 33's. I'm assuming with your referenced tires, you're going down to 17" wheels, so I would shoot for 33's (285/70) or even 34's (285/75), but again IMO, 35's would be too much for me on a commuter. Just my opinion.

Not all 35s are/have to be 12.5” wide.

The Mickeys are by far my all time favorite tires. I absolutely love thems. Heck, I would push down my grandma for the last set on a shelf. Hah! I am wanting to sell the above mentioned/pictured Kendas for a second set of Mickeys.

Video clip driving the Mickeys and holding a phone.

285/75r17's are 34"x10.5-11 or so. Just get 35x11.5's and be done.

That said if you like the poke get the 35x12.5's but you'll get more rubbing on stock axles.

Having the wide axles like OP has helps.

I had 35x12.50 on mine with stock wheels and no wheel spacers for a few days. It didn't rub driving on road.

Like the Nighthawk, the High Altitude trims also have wide axles and 3.73 with gas models.

I thought I wanted wide 35's for a while, but after cruising around on ~11" wide 33's for a while I do not want to go bigger.

our wrangler has the 35 package so 4.56 gears, it is a great set up for us. With 3.73 gears i feel you may not be happy with the responsiveness. Keep in mind the diameter of the 315's jeep includes in this package is actually closer to 34.5". Its just something to consider along with your intended use
