Hello.
I have a jeep gladiator mojave. this noise started happening since 30k miles. I want to sell my truck due to this issue as this is driving me crazy and not wanting to drive the truck anymore.

The noise comes from door, I cant isolate from which spot it’s coming from, but basically whenever I go offroading and the truck shakes, or going over bump, going on the ramp or anything like that, the door makes this crazy loud tattling/thumping noise. I feel like it’s the door frame striking against car frame or something like that whenever either door moves up and down or frame flexes. Does anybody have a same problem or solution to it? the link below is my record.

Did you check the rubber gasket around the door for misalignment or its contact with the door frame? Also check to insure your strikers are hitting correctly on doors and frame. I take my doors off and put tube doors on quite a few times a year and both of the above have happened to mine making the same noise. You’re going to have to grow some thicker skin with jeeps, they all make noises, take your time, track it down and kill it. Sometimes a friend driving it while your hunting is effective. Another fix…simply take the doors off. Good Luck.

I had a similar noise after I had my doors replaced under warranty. It got progressively worse, especially when wheeling offroad. I removed the door panel, and I found a couple bolts had worked themselves loose. There are several bolts that are visible once you remove the pastic/vinyl panel. Good luck.

I had a rattle after hard bumps that sounded like it was the door. Never could locate it, till the first time I took off my hard top. After removing the Freedom Panels, I found the front bolt holding the hard top down was finger tight if that (The front one just above the drivers head). Before taking it off, I tightened the bolt up and drove around. The banging was gone. Just something you might want to check out.

My dumbass caused this exact problem twice. When I realized it that second time, I was almost more angry at myself than the infuriating noise.

I did go through rubber gasket and inspected all the possible gaps. I once tried extra weather strip all around the door frame and it didn't help. Striker is hitting it correctly. I know what you mean by it’s a jeep and make all the noises. I agree. But any noise excessive like this always has been some problem with the car somewhere such as leaking axle seal or transmission grinding.

Thank yo for your input!

This is the only thing I didn’t check. I should try this way to see if anything’s loose. .

It indeed was loose at some point and I retightened it. Part of the noise was gone but this thumping noise didn’t go away.

On mine it was the striker plate being ever so slightly misaligned from a hard trail hit. Loosened it, shifted it inboard a millimeter, and the “mystery door thump” was gone. Sometimes it’s that tiny.
How did you know that you’d have to push it few milimeters in?

My side view mirrors like to make noise, the 2 pieces of the clam shell like to move around at highway speed and it transfers sound though the door. I ended up putting a little silicon in the outside gap of the 2 halves and it has reduced the sounds induced by vibration.
