Great news for those that want 392!! The youtuber was right, If the 5.7 is offically annouced later in MY then he will be proven to be correct with his sources. Anyway great news overall i am happy the gladiators is getting some damm attention and not treated like the ugly red headed step child..I want the brand to have success and continue on.

Do the 5.7 and stay under $75,000.
It's doable.
75!?!? Try 55, and that’s too much. There’s no reason a 5.7 should cost more than 4-5k over the v6. Just like the diesel upgrade, just like the hemi upgrade in the ram.

Oh good, now we can blow up transfer cases too...

I wouldn't mind a 392, but no way in hell if the pricing is close to the Wrangler.

Will it require the heavier transmission?

It will likely required the SelecTrac t-case. The 4xe does. Can't buy one without it.

The good news is it would be easier to do retrofits/swaps based on the 392 package to earlier JT's.

Let FCA do the emission testing for 2026 year and then any swaps that match a factory 392 install could use the same emissions testing.

The older vehicles meeting newer emission standards is fine rule.

I mean I’m happy for the guys that want a V8 but all I really want is another 50ft/lbs of torque and I’d be happy. No way in hell I’m spending what they invariably will price this at. I mean I’ll go buy a Corvette C8 Z06 if I’m spending over $100k.

How about a 5.7? Plenty of power available, less likely to devour itself, and devours less fuel.
But at least with a 6.4 it will be so expensive that I won't be tempted to trade in my brand new truck on one.

Id prefer just an engine that’s capable of providing the extra torque on its own rather than adding another system but e torque could probably get brought to market quickly.

At least there are ample options available for the fix/upgrade. Out of the three 5.7's I've had, one ate a cam at around 140k. No codes, I just heard it and decided to pull the valve cover to confirm. Ordered a cam kit from one of the dozens of outfits that offer them these days. A weekend in the garage with some hand tools and things were buttoned back up. I wouldn't say its an easy fix, but it's definitely not hard. That Grand Cherokee is over 200k now.
I'm at 155k now. Doing 10k oil changes on my WK2 5.7l . The heat is killing the plastic interior trim, but otherwise ok. Had a little cooling issue a year and a half ago. I like the 5.7l. It would be a great motor in the JT.

6.4 in a gladiator!

only thing keeping me from one is the price tag…which will be heavy I am sure. Fun to see Raptor Ranger vs hemi gladiator!

AMW is using the 8HP75, so Jeep could do this with parts already used in the JTD. AMW doesn't list a replacement of the transfer case on their 392 build out page.

I have no idea what they'd price it at, but the JLU 392 is probably a good ruler.

Regardless AMW is swapping them for $40k which on their book includes 45 labor hours. So playing a totally pointless hypothetical game, the crate 392 is $8k from Mopar, labor would be less than 45hrs additional on the assembly line, the upcharge on the JTD was labeled for the engine and not the trans. I know it'll have a ridiculous premium, but, when it can be done with many parts Jeep or Ram already use in assembly and on the 1500 platform the 5.7 option nets a maybe 4K total cost increase, I'd guess it could be done for the 70k area on their end.

The actual delta when it almost certainly cost $100k I have to assume comes from a factor I can never recall the actual name for, but essentially the cost for the time and effort of testing and development is not distributed over as many models, netting a higher cost overall. This is the exact reason Toyota partnered with BMW, as they stated they could not have built the Supra for less than $100 otherwise. I'd still argue Jeep is getting a really nice pocket full on the 392s since its not a new new platform.

But, its anyone's guess.

i think i rather do a AMW engine. if jeep adds a 392, it would be 470 hp and 470 tq with stupid MDS that sounds like shit in mds mode and has different internals to active MDS. probably wont see one in a few years, they need to reengineer the chassis to accept the 6.4 motor mount locations

AMW's 6.4 is 505 HP and 485 TQ, NO MDS.

Also, do you want it today or a few yrs from now. imagine the ADM price on top of the msrp when they come out

I hope its true, was just getting ready to pull the trigger on a 392 swap. Just figuring out CA smog BS
