I also installed the Grimm Offroad Winch Plate with the factory steel bumper and Apex Badland winch. It was completely plug and play with no need to cut, grind, or drill! I posted a bunch of pics here:

Nice job. I already did mine also. Plug and play is music to my ears. No cutting or grinding. I just had to wait for the two parts that were missing in my kit (the fairlead cover and one of the spacers) for about two weeks but they arrived and all is well. In my case, I did buy longer bolts as some others had mentioned since the ones included were, IMO, just slightly short by a couple of millimeters. Other than that, it was fine.

Spacers were not needed for my installation…

Only wiring left to hook up.

Had to cut the knob to clear the hoop.

What knob is this? I am thinking about getting the winch and adding the hoop to mine.

The one that the winch comes with. You remove it (easy, just one locking set screw) and cut it so it clears the hoop.

Hack saw, band saw, or grinder. Did the same on mine..

I hope they have the Grimm's in stock because I had to wait about 6 weeks for mine but then supposedly they got shipments in and now they are available. Yes, from what you have read, this combo is definitely as close to a plug and play as you can get. I did have some help with mine (ok, ok, like just hit the big 69 here) but really one person could install it.

I did have to get some slightly longer mounting screws as others have mentioned but others have said they fit fine. Also, some have said that they cut a hole in the side of the cover since the power cord pressed against the grill and supposedly could wear off the paint or something. I personally had enough room behind the unit to easily just bend the power cord without even touching the grill. Maybe it's slight variations in the Jeep bumpers (which I doubt) or slight changes in the Grimm plates. Whatever the case, it is about as easy as you can do a DIY installation on something that others struggle with and pay much more for. Keep us informed !

How long did it take to come in after you ordered it? I just ordered one and I'm curious, I'd like to start using my shiny new winch.

It sounds like it's taking a bit of time. However, you can put the cutoff in place, just loose until it arrives. Mine was a few weeks from order to delivery, but that's also a few years ago.

Thanks! I just opened the box the switch comes in and it looks like the guts are pretty well insulated. Now I just have to wait on the cable insulating jacket to come in then I'm good to go.

I will plug the disconnect mounting plate from Center AK (thread). $29 and I received mine two days after placing my order.

It didn’t take too long. In the interim I attached the cutoff switch with a couple of zip ties.

I tried to order from them and kept getting a 404. They go out of business?
