Speaking of your property, and the cabin load you hauled there, how heavy was that trailer again? I’m faced with a potential 4250lb load including trailer weight. I wouldn’t hesitate within a reasonable distance from home, but this would be 19 hours, one way essentially. Empty trailer on the way.
8200lbs...It towed fine. Maintained 65mph even up a mountain. Not 19 hours but at 600 miles it was 11 hours with fuel stops.

And yours is also lifted on 37’s right? Are you cheating with the diesel, or do you also have the gutless turd?

It's the v6, 3.5" lift and 37s. The engine is only gutless until 4000rpm, then it has decent power.
Mine has good power even at 2 500 and 3,000. 4,000 seems like you have issues with yours.

Unless you’re at 8500’. Then it’s still gutless.

Maybe , I run mine between 1500ftand 3000ft and dont notice anything. So it an air problem? Maybe it needs induced air . I lean heavy toward the super charger as a help there.

The 3.6l isn't an ideal candidate for forced induction, usually results in a crankshaft snap. The high altitude power loss is really really bad. When wheeling at 11000' you almost have to bury the throttle to get the engine moving, severe lag. A throttle controller helps. Cold air intake, with a matched exhaust will give a little boost, and anything at that elevation helps.

Yes. If you do the calculation, I’d be at 210hp at 8500’. But add to that a big lift and 37s, and it’s gutless. It becomes a perfectly normal truck once I get as low as Kansas, meaning off of the Colorado plateau that is CO and UT. Superchargers do help, but they blow up engines.

Not much you can do about the altitude loss without forced induction. Everyone loved the 4.0L, which makes me think they never took their Jeeps up to high elevations. 190hp was barely adequate on the freeways at sea level. Give up 30% at 10k feet and it's like trying to move a lifted 4x4 with an old Honda civic. Forced induction is huge though. A 2.0t with a tune (335ftlbs) will have the same torque at 12k feet than the 392 as the 392 will lose 36% and the turbo will only lose 12%. Now they are both 300ftlbs. That's why places rely heavily on forced induction. A 3% loss per 1000 feet vs a 1% loss doesn't sound like much if you're rarely above 5k feet.

Yep. Exactly right. I don’t notice the increase in power until I descend below 4k feet. But when I go above where we live to go over 10-12k passes, it’s barely functional.

So tell me about how to create forced induction on a 3.6l
If you have the older gpec2a ecu it's easy. Several kids on the market. If you have a later model with the gpec5 (5 has wiring on the top instead of the side) you are stuck waiting. HP tuners finally has gpec5 tuning available so we should see kits soon. A procharger will likely end up on the truck once I'm past the 60k powertrain warranty. If you go with a procharger you should be able to adapt it to a 5.7L or 392 after you blow up the 3.6L. 425hp is good, but v8 swap AND procharger means 600+ easy.
