You were in a good group in good hands, Lynn and Ryan (the lead and tail) are some of the best trail guides I've ever had the pleasure of running with, good friends of mine.
I was with another black group, but ours didn't fair as well. 1 trail, 4 hours later... We had 22? Jeeps and some were fresh builds (one guy's rear locker wasn't wired right or all the way, I never heard which), it made for a long morning, I should have tagged along with you all.
You should have for sure! Ill definitely be back to Windrock. The JLU that was with me is going again this weekend with a local group from the upstate of SC, but its too soon haha. Next time im planning to come that way ill let you know!

We just got back to Noble, OK from Ouray and Silverton for the week. Of course did Alpine Loop and drove past the entrance to Black Bear (that counts, right? lol)

I’m sure it was a great trip. But no. That doesn’t count. Do it next time. Such a fun trail.

One day. The wife isn't a fan and has watched too many YouTube videos where it's over-hyped.
There are a couple spots where it’s not overhyped. But for the most part, it’s a little oversold.

The steps and switchbacks are her greatest fears.
I know staying to the right on the steps and facing them with both front wheels dropping at the same time is the best approach, and the switchbacks are a little more 'involved' with the longer wheelbase, I will one day get to Telluride from 550, just not going to be this year.

I don’t think the steps were bad at all. There was one switchback that was pretty tough, but I just took the right turn early and kind of cut it off as long as you have a good spotter it’s fine.

I have to say I’m super impressed how much a stock rubicon can do. The pictures of my turtled does no justice to the shelf I hung on.

The wranglers all handled it well, as did a stock Sasquatch. The long wheelbase and 33’s did me in. Winter lift will be welcomed!

I remember several of those from before mine was lifted. I throughly enjoyed going back to those spots to see how much better things worked.

I get it. There was only one switchback that required spotting, and I don’t remember anything being an issue on the steps. It must be worse with shorter wheelbases.

Woke up to another amazing desert sunrise on our AZ property after the 600 mile drive after work yesterday.

Speaking of your property, and the cabin load you hauled there, how heavy was that trailer again? I’m faced with a potential 4250lb load including trailer weight. I wouldn’t hesitate within a reasonable distance from home, but this would be 19 hours, one way essentially. Empty trailer on the way.
