Just hit 10k miles, went to change my oil and discovered my drivers side cv boot is puking copious amounts of grease. Had it towed in as directed by the dealer. This was Friday afternoon and the dealer mentioned unfortunately the boots are on some kind of backorder. They will pull it in Monday for official inspection and diagnosis but made it sound like I could be down for a while. This is a 24 Mojave X. Anyone else had a similar issue and if so how long did it take to get the parts? Thankfully I’m not walking, they put me in a well optioned 25 gladdy sport til mine is ready.

Has anyone with an older JTM upgrade to this style of axles. My '23 JTM has the older U Joint style axles

My 21 has the cv style shafts, I bought it used but everything looks original.

Pretty sure the CV style front axle shafts only come with the Selec-Trac option, whereas the standard Command Trac gets u-joint shafts. I'm also fairly certain they're a bolt in replacement if you want to swap over to the CV style.

Reads like the dealer is handling and doing a good. Alternate Trans while in shop and Warranty in effect.. So?

They probably will not release it back to you, but you could easily go for quite a bit driving it like that in 2WD while waiting on parts if they are looking to replace the whole CV axle and not just the boot.

OMG i knew i saw CV’s under a gladiator once and reddit was all “brah you crazy. Its a Ujoint”

So selec-trac are supposed to have CV’s? Is it a Mojave “high speed desert rated” thing?

As was mentioned earlier, it appears your dealer it being proactive (or at least active) in dealing with the issue, unlike so many others we have heard about here. I hope your wait is not too long but the parts issue is more of a Stellantis issue than that of a local dealer. But then, you really don't care, you just want the Jeep fixed and returned.

Some dealers (a few) have offered loaner vehicles but that seems to be the exception, not the rule. A lot depends on the dealer him/her self.

In any case, if it were me on such a new vehicle, I would want the actual/original parts replaced and not a work-around. I am thinking about down the road if a problem again developed and you took it to another dealer, there may be problems if the original spec parts are not on the vehicle, even if they are Mopar parts. But then I am in no way an expert and those here with greater mechanical know-how may be a greater help to you.

Technically all gladiators came with Selec-trac, just Selec-track II, or Selec-track III; with the newest version having "4Auto".

It's kind of a crapshoot which models got CVs, my EcoDiesel High Altitude got CVs with the wide-axle and I only have 4HI. And I don't think they designed the "luxury" model to going desert bombing.

They call the U joint having non 4A version Command-Trac. Rock-Trac on Rubicon.

No clue why they'd use CVs without 4A. Pointless imo.
