it would be nice if at least the steering wheel buttons could be used moor as a "mouse" function for the infotainment screen. I really would like more of a more of a heads display
This mouse function would upset me. Reminds me of certain laptops with that ridiculous trackball thing in the middle of the keyboard.

Heads up displays are great though. My '15 Camaro has one and it's super useful. The angle of the windshield and how short the dash is though would make it a bit of a challenge.

I over all prefer a track ball over a mouse , but even I hated those center keyboard buttons ... I ment that the one could use the up and over keys enter keys on the left of the steering wheel to select in things like android auto

My wishes-

The size of wrench needed for the oil drain plug should be on a sticker under the hood. Heck- do transmission and differential plugs as well.
I'll add on that you shouldn't need special tools for maintenance tasks. Like Audi requires a special socket for the drain plug.

At minimum, you should be able to use an adjustable 9/16" on most everything.

For those unfamiliar with the wrench, an adjustable 9/16" is a crescent wrench. ;) It may be uncivilized like a blaster, but it'll get the job done.

Could be just me, but I don’t see a way to view current song in the cluster display.
I'm pretty sure that's an option you can get to at the bottom of the screen choices or enable.

Door handles on the back doors and tailgate that unlock the doors like the handles on the front doors.

Can't believe I forgot this one:

Easy to replace headlights and/or bulbs. Some vehicles you have to take off the front end to change the lights.

Mazda has the most infuriating bulb swap process I know of. Just use a spring-loaded cap that the bulb sits in, press and twist to lock in place. F that stupid clip.

  • Build a top that doesn't leak, even if it means doing it like a targa top with a single panel over the front seats. We have trucks, there's plenty of room for a solid panel back there.
  • Turn the space below the center console and in front of the shifter into a spot to stash a phone by adding sides so it won't slip out when cornering. There's nowhere to keep a phone that's handy.
  • Make the door over the USB plugs fold open and flat so it tucks away when something is plugged in. I shouldn't have to buy a special flat 90 degree cable that blocks the other USB port just to keep things tidy.
  • Adjust the front and rear seat height independently so taller drivers aren't rocked back on their tailbone.
  • Aluminum oil filter receptacle - or better yet, use a normal oil filter that just screws on. That damned oil filter is a pain to use, is very picky about torque, easily broken, and gets in the way of common oil cooler add-ons.
  • High-definition front and rear cameras. Both of them are only slightly useful if there is a large object in the way, but the front camera doesn't give a good enough image to plan wheel placement. At best you can kind of keep the wheels on a two-track. The camera on my phone is smaller and can shoot 4k video, there's no excuse today to have a camera with only six pixels.
  • Ditch the oversized "butch" key design. It's annoying to carry and keeps stabbing me in the right nut when it flips open in my pocket. Toyota has had remotes built into their keys for over a decade and managed to make them 1/4th the size of this monstrosity.

No hard pause button for podcast or something at a drive through.

that just mutes it. The audiobook or podcast keeps playing, and then I have to rewind it…. My last truck had a pause, which was way better than a mute….
First world problems, but I think that’s the point here.
My mute button pauses Spotify. Maybe it's app specific? I think one of the audio controls on the back of the steering wheel also pauses? Not certain on that

You mean the center nipple on my ThinkPad?? I rarely use it but it's convenient if I forget my mouse

I’m tall and would like to be able to see the top of the center digital instrument cluster without slouching.

1) the key fob is pretty absurd. I got a threedom fob, much better. Who's idea was the brick fob?

2) generally I think the touch screen on my 21 willys is mostly use for nav and music. It's minimal, and most of the things I would want quick access to is physical buttons. I rented 24 Cherokee and wow was it annoying with touchscreen and digital displays everywhere. Glad my speedometer and such is actual dials. Are newer JTs digital?

Super annoying though, is getting out of android auto screens to get back to uconnect screens. I'm not even sure how many clicks it takes because I screw up the sequence every time.

3) better/more integrated or seamless doors off mirrors. Obviously there's tons of aftermarket options but c'mon jeep, figure it out. The doors off thing is a selling point, but then you're forced to buy something else to stay legal/safer in most cases. That bracket they sell is laughable imo. Ugly as hell, over priced, over engineered. I'm expected to swap my factory mirrors when I take the doors off??
Broncos at least addressed this one.

4) would be nice to have some integrated door storage of some kind. We have truck beds. Maybe just front doors in a "bag" similar to the freedom top panels with a convenient way to secure in the bed. Not a must have but a nice to have

5) easier access to storage under the back seats. The rivian truck has a pretty cool storage access from the outside

6) back window, sucks. Tons of better ways this could have been done. They put no effort into it. Like R&D was over budget so they said screw it.

7) ok this might be a stretch. But JTs are quite modular so I think this could be reasonable. Access from the bed into the back, similar to the Chevy avalanche. Some kind of hatch that folds down to open the cab and bed, fold the back seat flat, and a flat folding passenger seat, you're hauling 15ft+ boards or trim easy. My 2010 liberty has front seat fold flat, I could bring home some pretty long material in that little suv

- absolutely hate the way they did the cover! I use the USB port in the center console because of that, until i figured that it worked the same I almost ripped the cover of i hated it so bad

-While I will agree that aluminum would have been better (much better) I have to embrace top mounted cartridge first one was my old Super duty( they only thing i liked about the 6.0), then my mini now the JT. last time i changed my K2500 7.4 I had to climb under reach through certified jungle gym and chance bathing in motor oil and plan on at least have a can of brake clean and a dozen paper towels

-I hate the size shape and the fact it is not waterproof despite its oversized rugged look (I had to replace one thanks to a trip through the clothing Jacuzzi -at least i had the Key warranty)
