I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Gladiator was poaching more Wrangler buyers than other brand truck conquest sales.
I wouldn't doubt it. I personally know three people locally that transitioned from Wranglers to Gladiators.

Many went to the Bronco.

I don't think most people are cross-shopping the Gladiator with the other midsize trucks, unless they were already considering a Jeep, or already had a Jeep and needed more utility.

I am hardly a market expert, though.
I agree. Until we sees Gladiators used as work truck with extension ladder, mower etc. The Gladiator still just a toy and a life style truck for most.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I would think they compete more directly than not. The JT made a lot of believers out of Tacoma fans, myself included.
Totally agree. There seems to be a lot of former Tacoma owners here.

Thanks for posting. ☺ That’s a lot more believable than some of the other sites you see online. It’s good to hear they’re ‘doing something’ to try and improve things. Adding 5,000 jobs is a good thing!

Granted….. that doesn’t mean anything for us and our JT’s…. It could be ‘same old-same old’ while they put their efforts into bringing back the V8 Dakota.
Brush off the old blueprints from the past……

Great point. Jeep doesn't even consider that end of the market based on trim offerings- and fleet sales is a large part of what kept ChryCo alive during the Benz/Cerberus/FCA era. With the Dakota Nueva sharing underpinnings it could easily grab some market share allowing Jeep to keep the Gladiator as a lifestyle/toy truck.

Former Tacoma owner here… I had two of them. I’ve also had a Dodge Ram, and a GMC Canyon since then. I’m not brand loyal anymore.

There are hard-core Toyota fans who will never switch. There are folks who would rather have the bare bones - nothing fancy kinda truck, which the Tacoma seemed to be a bit behind the 8-ball when it came to options/upgrades.
When I was shopping in 2016….the Tacoma didn’t have rear disk brakes and no power seats. 😳 The Canyon had all that and much much more and cost about the same as the Tacoma did.

I have no idea how they stack up currently…….

We continue to be the black sheep
I have always been the "outlier " so to speak , I dont mind it. 1 other guy and myself are the only guys out on the entire system I work that have Gladiatorswe both bought them the same year. His is a Mojave and mine a Rubicon and We both love them. This is my last "payment situation" vehicle. I am done buying new . From now on its renew and build. Period.

I hear you brother and goodluck. I want to buy one more gladiator for this generation with that in mind to keep it for the long haul. It will be my 4th and last!! Just disappointed how little attention and innovation we get from Jeep. Its a damm shame to be honest. How the hell we dont have factory 4:56/4:88 gears as options by now? Anyway looking at one more and i am done!! Going to find a way to purchase new 3.6 motor, transfer case and transmision to lock away till needed.

What has changed is where the "Dakota" will be built. Originally it was thought to be in Belvedere but now it's Toledo. I'm guessing the north plant will still only manufacture the Wrangler and the south plant will manufacture the Gladiator and the Ram truck.

I'm one of them. Sort of. I owned a 2DR JKR and a Tacoma DBL Cab TRD. Merged the two together and the Gladiator was born.

By far the worst seats I've ever sat in. Road trips were terrible. And the TRD Sport was supposed to have the best ones. The Gladiator seats blow them away.
