Moab trip last month, I finally got the hot clutch message. Currently about 15k on the new clutch. I was definitely pushing it through Kane Creek in Moab.

Only way to reduce clutch usage is to just set and idle or shut down right ? Wonder if there us a way to inject fresh air in there.? Or someway to hot wire that sensor ? With a couple diodes and what not.?

After that obstacle, I had plenty of time for it to cool down spotting others through it. Air onto the unit would cool it quicker, but unsure what would work as a quick fix.

I also was reading one response maybe this thread where a guy had a centerforce and converted back cause He said He couldn't shift right. Well bigger disc's heavier pressure plate, flywheel etc.. surely gonna cause more rotation just have to add an extra pause.
Have you considered switching ?

This clutch is actually really useable now. I feathered it a ton through Hamburger Hill on Kane Creek. If anything, that first obstacle burned the clutch in a bit, the engagement point is even better after the hot message. I know I'm in the minority on the recall success, but it's been night and day from the original, I rarely stall it now.

That's good to hear! Thanks for the photos guys, looks like that was a blast.

The pre-recall clutch is challenging to the other people who've driven my rig. I've been waiting for the dealership to follow up about the recall but I think I'll reach out again. I have about 55k on the current clutch and intend to teach a new stick driver how to drive right before getting the recall work done

Use 4-low for reversing into a camp site or up the driveway. Even on pavement. It may bind and hop a bit but that's better than smoking the clutch, and much better than limp mode. Try to straighten things out before 4-low to reduce the binding.
…and I can back up a hill in reverse without having to go to 4wd low.
Interesting, does using 4L for reversing at slow speeds help reduce wear on the clutch?

It's a completely different clutch feel than original, it's actually useable, and I can back up a hill in reverse without having to go to 4wd low.

If backing up a steep hill, it would help, and put power to all 4 vs just the rear.

AND the fact you now have 2x the control with 1/2 the speed and 2x the torque. This is where the 2L mod would be helpful.

Until it spins .
Yes, but for the backing up a hill/while towing, probably not a huge issue since the t-case is mechanically locked 50/50 F/R.

I'd be assuming I know the answer already (knowing Stellantis), but are the synchros good enough to shift w/o the clutch in a pinch?

Yes, synchros are just to increase life, reduce noise and wear on gear teeth. I drove my Scion (camry engine) without the clutch and didn't have issues. Same with my ZX6R, 49k miles with minimal clutch usage when commuting and no issues (and I drag raced and did stunts with that same clutch).

I've tried it a couple times, you just need to learn when there's ACTUALLY no load on the transmission since the drive-by-wire throttle is vague af.

1000000000% electronic throttle is vague af. Get a throttle controller. I have the EVC unit. I use the auto setting mostly, but the Ultimate setting when I'm off-roading. You'll have much better throttle tip in and control. Makes the engine feel snappy.
