Bruh.

I hope NASCAR's big reveal of the new points format at 2PM today is more exciting than this.

That's pretty lame even as far as sticker packs go.
Uh, update.

It was.

When I think of 85 years of Jeep nothing is further from my mind than plaid.

85 years and this is how it's celebrated? Decals and plaid seats? Who's going to drive this? Probably a no-kids couple with an open Saturday. Married Frank the Tank even has the plaid shirt to match.

But barely. Instead of a "that's it?!" it was "Are you F**KING KIDDING ME?!!"

Had NASCAR gone back to 2002 point structure with minimal tweaks (stages, win bonuses), much digital ink would have been spilt.

I was just getting into it at the tail end of full season points, so most of my history was probably during the era of the first Chase.

I got back in at the beginning of '23 and had to learn about the Next Gen AND Playoffs, which even after two years was a challenge to explain to anyone once you got to points and resets.

So, at least the New Chase can be explained in a few sentences, and it won't have a gimmick four way race for the championship.

I (personally) believe Playoffs diluted the 'stars' and it contributes to why you don't have new household names coming up (like Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jr, etc, etc before) because under Playoffs nobody can build a monumental season and become a superstar. The Playoffs flips shit wildly every three weeks.

Moving the needle, I suppose.

As much as I think most (or all) the ‘themed’ Jeeps are a bit lame….. You gotta give them credit. No other vehicle manufacturer does it. Jeep does it on a regular basis…… And obviously, people are buying them because they keep coming out with new themes.

I completely agree. I know Jeep is getting flack for some of the deliverables so far (awesome: Moab 392; not-so-awesome: 85th plaid stickermobile), the approach is fun and frankly, genius. Great marketing of a lineup that's been around for 8+ years now.

What? No they aren’t. Am I misunderstanding what you’re saying?
OK, I guess I am talking from memory... they used to offer a dual-door option and the soft tops standard used to be half doors. I didn't realize they removed that. You can still get half doors from mopar for JL's & JT's but apparently they are giving those up to aftermarket.

Sorry I mispoke/mislead/mis-something.

Still think that would have been a great way to launch a special edition.
My Convoy anniversary edition would have included:
* half doors
* J style hood
* tan seats and soft top
* essentially the X setup with 35's, lockers, steel bumpers, winch, air compressor
That would be very usable right off the showroom floor.

Where do you see that 1/2 doors are standard for a soft top? I'm genuinely curious
Sorry, they used to be...I didn't realize they removed that feature and the dual-door option. I guess I haven't tried building one for awhile. lol.

No need tor apologies. I thought maybe I was misunderstanding what you were saying. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because of side impact protection. That’s why I said they’d probably have to be sold as an accessory for “off-road use only”
