At least you don't have a Tundra I-Force Max or a Chevrolet 6.2L - you'd be looking at outright engine failure. At least your PUG still runs 🤣 🤷‍♂️
I know a guy who had the SS sedan and had the valvetrain issue similar to what the 3.6 has. He got his fixed. And he flogged the s**t out of that thing. No boom for him.

Well the particular 6.2L I'm speaking of is the new LT based one that is having bottom end issues long before they can ever have the typical lifter failures.

My Camaro has the same 6.2L that came in the SS Sedan, which is the LS based 6.2L - those can have lifter failures due to the AFM activation. The locking pin fails or shears and the lifter collapses, or in a worse case, turns sideways after it collapses and wipes a lobe off the cam.

I have it deactivated in mine, so in theory the pins should never unlock and greatly lessen the change of them ever failing.

The 3.6L engine has been eating cams and having misfire issues long before covid, and before it became the PUG. The fact that is is still a issue in 2026 says a lot.
You realize how many high 200k+ 3.6ls there are on the roads? Hundreds of thousands. It sounds like you’re hating just to hate.

Totally made up. I told them it just needs to come up to running temp. The same mechanic claimed he test drove it four times on the previous visit. For a total of 4 miles. Hot, cold, at highway speeds....... He did that all, in four miles?
Until a MIL comes on they can't go any further. Even the service manager says it runs like crap.
I agree, that's not much of a drive to find anything.

It takes a 45 minute drive / 35 miles in most cases for me to replicate my misfire issue, which is most certainly related to the CDIFF stuff that Bill is speaking of.

Ah. Seems like there's always something with new cars these days.

Here's a lovely potato phone shot of my future "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" plaque.

I look at vehicles these days as 'buy the problems you are willing to have' as all of them seem to suck at some level.

So, the Gladiator has problems I am willing to suffer.

Case in point - these cams. While not fun, it's absolutely a problem I understand and can fix myself outside of warranty if I wanted.

The rest of the truck seems to be 'usual stuff' as far as vehicles go.

The Camaro - well me and a lot of friends just own a lot of LS motors, and it's my third 5th Gen Camaro - so I am familiar with their problems and I like it that way.

Back on topic.

My drive home today. 4.7 miles and since I was data logging I gave it a good rip to 5,500 RPM though normally this drive is below 3,000-3,500 easily. I also spent a few minutes sitting in the drive through at the pharmacy.

The next two data logs are from when my truck does the CDIFF misfire. These are from 2023. I stopped data logging the data after I had enough to say 'Yep, this is likely the issue', so it's been a while.

It still does it to this day, but since I have narrowed it down to likely firmware issues and I can even tell you when it will happen - I honestly haven't cared enough to leave it at the dealership.

These are over a period of 30 seconds I'd guess, based on memory. That's about as long as the episode lasts before going away. It's an obvious rough misfire where if I come to a stop I can feel the truck shaking.

Best way to fix this problem is to buy anything but a Jeep. No other engines have misfires when running, if I am reading the posts in this thread correctly.

Not willing to lift a finger? Dude, you are the type of person I was thinking of when I said I didn't want to get on the forum. If enjoying a poorly running engine makes you a better person, so be it.

I’m curious why the axles, transfer case, and transmission were serviced to resolve a misfire in with the motor.

It’s not a poorly designed engine. It’s a good, proven engine. It’s just plagued with post Covid poor quality parts supply issues. However, that likely has nothing to do with your misfire issue. I haven’t had good luck with Jeep dealerships, but I’d still try a different dealership.
I definitely got the all the bad parts, and also have the feeling of moving on. 2024 Gladiator Rubicon X bought new in January 2025, and in the first year of ownership with 11,000 miles the passenger-intake cam, rockers and lifters, passenger-side exhaust rockers and lifters; driver's-side intake cam, rockers and lifters, timing chains and guards, cam phasers x 3. The engine finally sounds normal. I still am seeing a lot of metal on the oil filters. The thing has been in the shop 75 days in the first year of ownership. I filed a lemon law suit back in September and am waiting for it to move forward. Lawyer says 8-12 months after filing until resolution. At this point it is a presumptive lemon, meaning Stellantis has to prove it is not a lemon. I am not sure if I am going to go back into the Jeep lottery after I get a buy back on this one.

Look OP, there has been a bunch of good advise given here. And you still are just bashing. Time to move on. Fix it or forget it cause I am tired of hearing it .

There is The Jeep Gladiator and then there is Not a Jeep Gladiator. It’d be hard for me to go to anything else.
One perspective could be 66,000 miles ain’t bad so trade it in for a new Jeep Gladiator. Then share the new one with us here and all the mods you do to it.

I am qualified to point out that even the perfect Japanese vehicles have failures. I have worked in several dealerships, and even the perfect Japanese vehicles have service departments in their dealerships. Since Jeeps are so troublesome, time to buy something else that is perfect.
