I just bought a used 2021 Gladiator Rubicon and absolutely love it. The only real complaint I have is the tires are "off-road style" and really loud. As much as I love the idea of off-roading, I live in CT and that's just not something I can do here. So I was wondering if anyone here had a recommendation for a really quiet, smooth road tire.

Also, it looks like the two rear tires on my truck are brand new and the the fronts are still fine. Do any tires shops still take used tires (we used to call them "take offs" when I was a kid) for credit towards the new ones? The last time I did that was 25 years ago, so sorry if that's a stupid question.

I'm running KO3's. They are really quiet, at least when new. All I hear on the highway is wind noise.

You'll want an all terrain, at most.

I've never gotten a credit from any tire shop long as I can remember. Heck at least down here they are mandated to charge you a disposal fee for the old tires - so I end up keeping them and selling them on marketplace unless they are totally trashed 🤣

Edit: You may like tires like these:

Something all terrain, but on road biased. This is just an example.

You will be hard pressed for any tire shop to offer credit for used tires. They are in business to sell new tires. Your best bet is have the tire shop put them in the bed of your truck and sell them on marketplace.

You should be able to find a nice quiet all-terrain tire for your needs. There are hundreds, go to discount tire and have them pull some up for you.

Michelins are great. Sometimes smaller tire shops will pay for used tires

I just (December) put new sneakers on my Overland, replacing (finally) the factory Dueler HLs.

This is my second set owned of Hankook Dynapro AT2 tires, I put 265s on vs. factory 255s.

First set was on my '08 GC Overland (Hemi) and after 40K miles, they still looked brand new. And quiet? VERY quiet. Good aggressive tread pattern that is excellent in the snow and, also had very good road manners on wet and dry pavement.

Mine were $1,280 (+/-) installed.

HIGHLY recommended.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have mentioned my current tires are the Falken WildPeak A/T 3W's. They seem like great off-road tires, but I'm definitely looking for a quiet, road ride.

The Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 seems to be the highest rated Highway All-Season tire, but those are expensive. The cheapest on tirerack is the Advanta SVT-02. Not sure I should go that cheap though!

Your money, your choice. Many people run cheap tires knowing what they have.

I’ve had 2 sets of Michelin LTX and didn’t like either. Not good on slick roads.

Thanks very much for letting me know about the LTX's! I'll see if maybe a local tire shop has a deal on something a bit less expensive.

Im not sure who labeled them or why the Michelin LTX are labeled as an A/T. They are closer to a highway tire that you would find on a civic. But Falken AT3W have very good. I believe they have been replaced by the AT4W.

IMHO, you will be somewhat disappointed in your quest for a quiet highway experience.
There is just too much wind noise with the Gladiator.
That being said, you won’t have any problem selling your takeoffs on Market Place, or here on the Forum classified section.

The oe falcons are louder than my ko2s, I put them back on for a trip to Fl and the ride was similar but road noise was a bit more.

My wife had great experience with the Michelin LTX and went through multiple winters when they were on her Civic.
