What’s worn out faster than you expected?

The sun visors, door nets, shocks. Off top of my head of early demise things. I'm definitely starting to feel steering linkage/ ball joints now at 6 years /107000 miles. I went with extended warranty also. Did oil change yesterday.



I'm on 3rd set tires, first 2 sets were 245r17 OEM and rims. A set of take-off from a member here years ago. His came with the s### HT tires mine had AT's I got better mpgs with along with better handling. Current tires are will need swapped out around next oil change or so. Your 5000 miles above me right now. My OEM AT's were good the HT's I got sick of plugging them from road debris roofing nails, screws ect. 3 tires in one day, on other days 1-2 tires. Brakes are likely soon also.

Your post reminded me that I did the Amazon sunvisor metal repair brackets about a year ago (year 5). Solid fix

But yeah… there actually are windshield protection films made for this exact problem. They act like a sacrificial layer so you’re not constantly stressing about chips/cracks.

It's important to do your research since some hold up a lot better than others depending on the material.

Yep the red ones don't last long.66400 miles is good.I had less than 10000 miles on previous Jeeps.

Steering components. Started getting death wobble on the highway at only 33,000 miles.
No off roading.

123k and I am having to replace it. Thankfully my mechanic was able to find a remanufactured one that will have a four year warranty which is actually better than the original one. This will fix all the other issues at one go. So yeah.

Oh that is rough.
Yeah… there are definitely some impacts that no film is going to completely stop, especially something that size at highway speeds

But even in situations where the glass still cracks, having that extra sacrificial layer can help keep the windshield together a bit better instead of glass going everywhere.

We’ve seen a few pretty nasty impacts over the years where customers were just thankful to still have visibility long enough to safely get off the road.

123k is still a pretty solid run, but definitely tough news to get.

Finding a remanufactured engine with a 4-year warranty sounds like a pretty decent outcome all things considered. Hopefully it gives you a fresh start and a lot more miles out of it.

Oh no! That’s pretty early for death wobble to start showing up, especially with no off-roading.

Did you end up figuring out which component was causing it?

Pretty sure it's tie rod, but I'm future proofing it with all Steer Smart parts to eliminate any weak points. Sometimes the shotgun approach is easier.

Front axle u-joints (right side fell apart at 11K)
Steering ends - lasted about 25K (I did put 37s on it and I wheel it)

My overlands shocks were bad at 20k miles, stock overland shocks no lift, bought used with no signs of ever being offroad, no scratches under it still looked new. Also its stocker showed gorilla glass which no longer had, but cant say im surprised by that one. Guess since over half the jeeps out there seem to get a lift right away maybe jeep thinks weak shocks on a trail rated jeep is ok my rancho monotubes have been. Terrific cheap upgrade
