Is a tazer a good replacement for an autostop start eliminator?

My Tazer used to act wonky and would stop doing the things I wanted it to do every few weeks to a couple months. I would unplug it and plug it back in and it'd work fine for a while, then start acting up again. I think it was around December that I updated firmware again and I haven't had an issue since.

The Tazer is a wonderful product, but it is buggy. The winch mode doesn't work with the diesel. It won't let me disengage the sway bar at higher speeds like it's supposed to. And mine will randomly disconnect the sway bar all on its own, which is particularly awesome when I'm on a windy mountain road with my travel trailer in tow. Firmware updates and contact with the manufacturer have done nothing to address these issues. But every time I use my Jeep with the Tazer removed, I'm reminded of how nice it is to have it when all the annoyances have returned.

I thought the trick was to disengage the sway bar like normal, then go into Tazer and turn off the swaybar disconnect. Then wehn you need to reconnect you go into Tazer, turn it back on and then reconnect as normal.

That's the first I've heard of of this.

I might be wrong, I haven't actually tried it yet, but thats what I found when trying to see how to stop it from auto-reconnecting at the 15mph or whatever speed it is. Was going to be testing it this coming week while in Wyoming.

I'll experiment when I get a chance. Let me know what you find out.

I’ve been using this brand Smart Auto Stop Start unit for over 5 years now. No issues with that brand.
Same here. The OP should consider his main objective (so question already answered) and if he wants to leave a Tazer plugged in 24/7.

I have a Tazer in my 22JTRD and while I like it. There are a few issues. Sometimes it glitches and I get the 3 honks, hasn't done it in awhile now. The start stop memory seems to be working so far. Some things like the winch RPM doesn't work with the diesels.
The biggest issue I have is all the settings for tire size, tpms, etc that I have set will go away when I unmarry the Tazer for dealer visits.

I've honestly thought about getting JScan or AlphaOBD to permanently set the tire size and TPMS threshold. Then I'd use the Tazer for its live functions.

If you already have a Start Stop eliminator, I'd keep it. If you Ike the extra functions the Tazer can provide then go ahead and get one. I found mine, used on the here for half price.

From what I've seen, there isn't much to the eliminator, any idea what went wrong with your sister's? Also what brand was it, if you know?

I didn’t know it had the “kill the honk with the keys inside” but I wouldn’t disable that anyway. In my absentmindedness I’ve left the keys on the passenger seat a time or 3.

Tazer doesn't kill that honk. It kills the 3honk when you leave it running and take keys with you and close the door.

I wouldn't want to kill the leave keys behind honk either. Just did it a outlet hours ago at the wife's work.

The brand was the autostartstop eliminator for $99 bucks. I bought it for her just after she bought her 2022 wrangler. Its been in her Jeep over 3 years. Sometime a few months ago it just stopped working. Now she has to hit the button to turn off ess which she hates. I have the same brand. Was the first thing I bought when I got the Gladiator a year and a half ago. She hasn't gotten around to replacing it.

I had it, it works very well. I got rid of it for the Tazer.

I wanted a couple specific functions in addition to disabling ESS- the kill 3 honk and backup light since I have Oracles in the bumper. I didn't think I'd like the backup cam/turn signal but it's grown on me. The winch function too. The light shows do nothing for me.

It's not without bugs as many have said but the overall I like it.

I leave mine connected. No trouble from the dealership.
