I spray mine with Pam so that the mud doesn't stick.
Back in the day people used to use used motor oil on the undercarriage to keep stuff off the road under carriage and the fender liners. Free resource that provides a coating to protect the metal and liners. Mostly used for keeping mud or salt off a bit better or just make it easier to clean off.

While sitting on my front porch sipping a Fanta, waiting on the roofer for my roof inspection (all good, in case anyone was wondering), I looked over at my Gladiator and smiled. Nice and clean. Except......

I grabbed my applicator pad, Griot's vinyl and rubber protectant....and cleaned my wheel wells. Yes I did. I may have a problem. But it does look nice, that's the scary part (or the justification ??).

Oh you definitely have a problem. I'm not sure if there's a medical term for it yet, but the problem is there.

I guess you missed the post a while back of when I took ownership of this Jeep (used), I pressure washed the undercarriage and I waxed the entire undercarriage; looking for anything bent/broken/scratched/missing. I wanted to know it's history. I did after that. 2023 Jeep that looked like it rolled off the line yesterday.

Wheel wells is baby crap compared to that project. Even I admit that.

Here's a few of when I was waxing the rear frame. I was just getting started...

p.s. I detailed my engine too. I could upload a pic, but I don't want to make you cry for me....

Need to set you and @Lunentucker up for a playdate. He liked to make the underside shine also.

I put on the magnetic covers on mine. Just doesn't work on the tailgate.

On my motorcycles I've used lemon pledge or whatever cheap store brand furniture polish is available. In muddy conditions, it makes a huge difference in cleaning.
