I hate to be the guy that starts a fuel economy thread especially since I don't really care about fuel economy in a jeep, however, I haven't seen any fuel economy numbers from Jeep. are we expecting it to be the same as the wrangler or will it be significantly worse because its a truck. whatever the number might be its smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon that really matter anyway!

I have a Ram 1500 now with the 3.6L V6. I average about 19.8 MPG according to my fuel economy driver information display screen. If I get the same or better than that, I will be happy. My max MPG was 26 when going to Myrtle Beach, so hopefully the Gladiator can do that too.

It's the same engine and transmission... so the only difference will be the weight of the truck, and how it's chipped/tuned. I think there will be some parts better, some parts worse but the net result is about the same. Give or take 1 mpg.

I'm honestly keeping my eye on this plugin hybrid JL to consider waiting. While I'm not sweating the actual mpg... I wouldn't mind having a smaller carbon footprint. I will say, if Jeep screws up pricing to put this thing starting at 45k or something ridiculous then I'd get a Rivian instead for that price point.

I seriously doubt you’ll see a Rivian for less than 65-70k before 2030 when they’re selling on the used market..

Oh I only expect you could get there after rebates, and that's on the lowest end.

In the new TFL video: Why is gas mileage so secretive? No one really cares about mileage, unless it's under 12 mph when running 37's while towing. Seriously, does any real Jeep person (pre CJ thru wrangler models only) care about mpg? Factory gas mileage numbers don't matter the moment you start doing mods.

If it's a marketable piece, they can't talk about it.

If you don't care about gas mileage then why do you ask?

I'm saying, it has to be similar to the JL numbers and 2. the mpg will not affect 99% of the people buying it, so why be secretive. IDK... mpg has never been on my radar.

Plus, the moment you disable ESS, the factory mpg numbers go out the window.

The Gladiator will be worse than Wrangler. It's 500 lbs. heavier and it's got deeper axle gearing. It'll basically be impossible for it to achieve the same or better economy than Wrangler.

BUT... having said that, Wrangler is awesome. In stock form mine easily averaged 20+ on my weekly commute doing a mix of city/highway. So if Gladiator is only 1 MPG lower, which is what I expect, it will still be fantastic.
