Changed the fog light trim color today. Covered up the silver trim in black plasti-dip. I did this in-place vs removing the bumper cover. I was going to go blue to match the grille trim, but but 5 year old son said black would look better. I think I agree.

Installed my uniden cmx760 cb with my firestik 3 ft NGP black antenna on a hood mount... sorry for the crappy pictures... I’m dead tired doing it from 9:30pm to 11:30 pm mtn time... oh and why so late... it was 96° today... and 74° at night.

Is that the Quadratech hood mount?

Painting those little grill inserts blue (like you did on the rear bumper) might be cool, though .

my wheels arrived today so i had to do a test fit. They are Vision Manx, 17x8.5 with 0 offset. Inside clearance should be good once tire is mounted.

Do you have any concerns about metal flex while the antenna is mounted and possibly getting wacked by limbs ?

Absolutely I do! But where the f are we supposed to put antennas if the bed is closed off??? Also no matter what you do, if you want good signal and capability to talk with everyone on the trail you will want a cb that extends past the cab... hitting tree limbs will happen no matter what.

I am going to add some rubber weatherstripping to the bottom and top of the mount... hopefully it will stay and curb some of the flexing/paint chipping.

I used the aev black spray paint and took my time painting up the bracket. I didn’t not have to do any grinding or ground work... I have been using firestik NGP(no ground plane) antenna’s for several years. I get great reception and don’t have to f with any ground issues ... ever. Lol.

And then... because of concerns with possible hood mount making a mess of things. I stopped into ace hardware and picked up auto/marine grade rubber weather stripping that I cut up and used on both sides of my hood mount bracket... now I’m more confident that I won’t chip the hood.
