Ok, so I've had the MT Gladiator a full day now. To those getting bitter and angry and thinking about going another route, just stick it out. This thing is FUN to drive. I think there is a little something special going on with these MT Gladiators. I haven't had this much fun driving a stick, since my very first Jeep back in 02.

I drove it bout an hour up the highway to Daytona to pick up some Rubi take off wheels. It drives pretty nice on the highway, it has the usual jeep issues on the road. But road noise, shifting, accelerating were all better than expected.

The clutch is a tad light, but nothing to get worried over. Compared to my JK this shifting is heavenly.

Hang in there folks. You either want a JT or you dont.

I feel you man. I get its not about wanting the truck. Sometimes loyalty is nice both ways and lets be honest life sometimes dictates making choices of need over want. It is a very expensive decision to buy a new truck in the first place and there are very few pickups more expensive then the Gladiator and they are all full sized. I am thinking I might be with you as well and just pour some more money into the old TJ and maybe pick up an old gen one or two taco and call it a day. Great community in the jeep world. Jeep has forgotten that it is the community that built this brand and it is the community that are the ones special ordering the trucks. Treating them poorly and pushing their orders back and back and back is how people remove their loyalty. Be loyal to your family, be loyal to your friends, be loyal to your work, maybe don't be loyal to a multi-national publicly traded company that forgot how they got there.
Have not cancelled mine yet either but I get you... I get you.
I'll give them 15-16 weeks but after that I dunno man. I'm tired of driving this old ass highlander

Everyone keeps saying "wait it out, it's worth it."

What I've found is dropping by a dealer once a month or so and driving one keeps my interest. (More of a problem with MTs with limited #s on dealer lots)

With that said, the Granite LEs FINALLY are went D1 this week, 19 weeks after placing our orders. With estimated ship dates last few days of the month or first week of Sept. Add another 2-4 weeks for transit to the dealer, we are looking at around 25 weeks, or ~6 months, from order to delivery. This assumes no hiccups during production (which there are pages upon pages of examples of those production problems, so who knows when the real delivery date will be).

On Wednesday I threatened my dealer to cancel my order. 3 weeks ago (week 16) he offered to swap with a Silver LE in transit. Silver showed up, they listed for sale on the lot. Supposedly needs GSM to approve the swap now, but for some reason they don't seem to be talking about it. Still don't know what to do. Wait out another 4+ weeks for my original order? Make the swap happen? Walk away completely (if there was anything else comparable to a JT I guess I could actually consider that)?

Guess I need to do another test drive to reset my frustration clock.

Well I finally had it. I should of known better after my 18 and 19 JL 2 door ordering hell to try and get in early on ordering another new model Jeep. I broke and decided to get another truck. No it’s not a manual, but my last 3 Jeeps were, so it’s a nice change (and a 10 speed at that). FCA has just left a bitter taste in my mouth at this point.

From Jeff the Jeep guy...

Dear Scott,

This is a courtesy email update regarding your 2020 Jeep Gladiator factory order.

I have taken the liberty of looking up your order and the current status as of 8/13 is the following:

Scheduling – All of the materials needed to start the manufacturing build process have been received and the vehicle should be entering the build process very soon.

Our resources indicate your vehicle is estimated to begin production the week of 09/02.

I will continue to track the status of your factory order & will provide any updates as they become available.

We appreciate your patience as we launch this exciting new product.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Picked up Gladys this afternoon, immediately after she was delivered.

Drove her around a good bit this evening. Very impressed, great vehicle. Transmission gets better as i get used to it and relearn everything i've forgotten about manuals.

Busy teaching a concealed carry class today, will post pics a bit later. Looks just like the pic on my profile. I'm probably not going to do a lift. Will get 35's after my 33's wear.
