Then you can't actually say I bought something for X, when not factoring in tax, title, registration. The total is skewed. No, no matter what you buy, you're going to have to factor in taxes and fees, that will vary by state, and whether you buy it out of state or not, like I did.
Wow.... Just simply wow. Then you can't actually say I bought something for X, when not factoring in tax, title, registration. The total is skewed.

I think it’s only skewed when someone doesn’t include what they had to pay in fees made up by the dealer. Taxes, title, and registration are a separate cost. Unless you work those costs into your loan. Either way when buying any vehicle not putting money down will give you negative equity. Then you can't actually say I bought something for X, when not factoring in tax, title, registration. That's all depends on your market your in and what vehicle your buying and also rebates. Mine with warranties and all out the door at $36,800 got $39,050 invested. If I put another $800 into it adding power windows and Locks I'm at $39,850. Can't find a regular sport with Max tow, they want let you build one on the website now, it's got to be a Sport S. Compared to this which if I added power windows and Locks would pretty close to similarI think it’s only skewed when someone doesn’t include what they had to pay in fees made up by the dealer. The whole reason they start with such a high MSRP, is because they already have every intention of knocking thousands off of MSRP to make sales, once they’re on the lots!A Sport Max Tow and Rubicon differ by about $9k. I'm seeing Sport S models for $8k below MSRP in my area but Rubicons, none that good. When I was shopping for a JT could hardly find any Rubicon with even $1k off but Sports were regularly $4k off, and that was before the holidays. So in reality you can get a Sport Max Tow for about $15k less than a Rubicon, but that's just the offerings in my area. Currently seeing Rubicons "advertised" at $8k below MSRP as well as Sport Max Tows $8k below MSRP, so it's possible to avoid the "$15k price difference", but Rubicon will still be several thousand more expensive. YMMV.
