Picking up Big Red on Saturday, I'm having a Mopar 2" lift installed before I pick it up. DId my best to have the 17" wheels and 315/70/17 BFGoodrich KO2 tires I oredered delivered in time for pick up but can't get them delivered until next week. I want the truck before then so I guess I have a couple questions:

Will driving back on the lift, stock tires and wheels do anything detrimental to the vehicle? Other than looking silly of course :)

I'm seeing everywhere that I'll need a speedometer re-calibration to match new tire/wheel size to proper speed, but there is conflicting info EVERYWHERE.

Does anyone know if a local Jeep dealer can do the calibration (I saw a video on Wrangler forum that says yes) and if so idea of cost?
If not, where the heck do I get it done other than doing it myself?

Thanks!

It won’t physically hurt anything, but I would recommend recalibrating it as soon as possible. It will throw-off your speedometer, shift-points, and odometer.

you might could have the dealer go ahead and recalibrate for the 315/70r17 tires before taking delivery, telling them you plan on installing them the following week... They might do that...

Having smaller tires is actually better for your vehicle. Let your car enjoy the waiting period! Also enjoy your gas mileage with the stock tires, it only goes down from there!

I had my tires installed at the dealer just for this purpose. I have 17-inch wheels and 35-inch tires. They calibrated the spedo and even took it out for a test run to make sure everything was okay.

I actually just tried to have my local dealership recalibrate for bigger tires today. The tech came in after 45mins with a number to contact FCA about their 'Custom Calibration Program.' Sounded like a bunch of hoops to jump through for such a simple problem and was going to cost $125.

I did some quick research here and found the JScan app and less than $100 I can do that and a bunch of other stuff on my own. Here's the thread with a bunch of good info if you want to go that route (https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/jscan-app.26357/)

Just go with JSCan, it’s easy and can change other settings too for $80 its a better option.

“there is conflicting info EVERYWHERE”
Welcome to Jeep user groups. Everyone here is either a Chrysler engineer, Master mechanic or has 73 years of experience.
Getting the dealer to calibrate it is easiest, but plenty of tools let you do it yourself. Chrysler dealers seem to have a lot of terrible ones among them. Just be aware. Enjoy.

You may be able to get the dealer to do it, since they installed the lift. You can buy a unit from Rough Country to do it yourself, for about what a dealer would usually charge. A Mini Tazer would be a good investment for future mods, and will also make the changes.

+1 on the tazer...will pay for itself with future mods.

I paid my dealer $120 to do it

Go with the Tazer JL Mini. Worth every penny. I love mine. You can do SO many things you didn't even know were adjustable on your JT that are locked-out by the ECM without the Tazer.

Just went through this a couple of weeks ago (33s to 35s) and my local dealer wouldn't/couldn't. They recommended the AEV Procal Snap. My timing happened that I got one of the first batch of ProCal units that AEV shipped that had the TPMS functionality.

I wasn't looking for all the functionality of a full programmer, so the ProCal was perfect for me. And now I have the device (well, it's locked to this JT), so it can be used to reprogram if I change tire sizes in the future.
