I really hope you were not victim to all of the above and were just making up examples. It makes me want to put high voltage electric zappers on the door handles. And then I'll forget to deactivate it and end up zapping myself.
Onlybth3 winch cable and it was coworkers. Assholes.

... As far as a stick slowing me down ...
A stick won't stop everyone (and I'm truly not worried about stopping you). From a 2018 analysis of FBI data on car theft:
  • Young males were responsible for 86% of vehicle thefts.
  • Of those arrested for auto theft, 59% were under 21 years of age, with 42% of those being under 18 years old.

They'd see the manual shifter and go look for something they could drive away. :)

IMO the bit about the young not knowing how to drive a stick is a myth. ...

And a quite high percentage of those aren't the youth of the country. I'd be surprised if more than one in fifty youth can drive a stick. My daughter thanked me for teaching her to drive a stick--it's even what she tested for her DL exam in. Once at Oklahoma University, other students would approach her, since she had that pickup truck, and ask if she could help them move some stuff. She'd tell them she was busy, then throw the keys at them: "Just bring the keys back when you're done." They'd return a couple minutes later, "I can't drive that!"

Way, way back in time when I was still in the military, I bought an 'ignition interrupt' system from a company called Jacobs Electronics and that had a programmable button that you could program to do a multitude of things.
Basically, after you started the car, you had 10 seconds to touch it or the car would die out.
If you opened the door while the car was running, you had 30 seconds to touch it again or the car would die out. This was done against car jackings, etc.
It wasn't even a button, it was a screw head that you just touch and it would ground out or something....

It was great. I'm sure it would go against some law to have it now..
Sounds like some sort of racist electronic device....let's ban it.

And if we can't ban it, we'll tax the piss outta it.

My mother was car jacked in her driveway a couple years ago (random dude walking down the sidewalk decided to pull a gun on her). Thankfully she was just fine.

The guy got about .5 mi away before abandoning it. Apparently they don't know about parking brakes either.

"as few as" so they aren't actually polling anyone or haven't really done an in-depth study? Just a hunch based on.............? driver training companies?

That's funny - as long as she was ok. My wife's GC - you CAN drive off with it but man it feels like there's something holding you back.
My JT- brake on, it won't move unless you REALLY REALLY rev it. It's almost like you locked the wheels.

well, it may not be easy to stall but easy to have a day ruined by some asshole slicing the back open to steal a pair of cheap sunglasses and some spare nickels that were in the center console. So now I need to see where I can get one from and how quickly I can get it.. what's worse is I ordered a hard top 3 months ago, it took Jeep 1.5 months to get it in but was damaged and so I'm still waiting on my hard top from Jeep. Hard top won't stop it from getting broken into but will definitely deter... Any ideas where to get a rear soft top window quickly?

It takes a real worthless creep to do that. And we're supposed to feel sorry for them. Sorry my butt. Theft is one thing, destruction is another. I have zero patience or sympathy to those morons that do that sort of thing.

Yeah.. I was livid.. more because of the principal of taking something from someone and destroying their property.. they don't know my situation. They don't know if I can afford the repairs. I'm out here on a family emergency exhausting my savings account just to have to come out of pocket to fix something that didn't need to be destroyed. What's worse is VA and NC has been raining every day so I have to ride with a plastic bag covering it up so water doesn't get in because on Sunday the parts department is closed.. Unfortunately those window panels werent designed to hold tape ‍♂ so it's struggling... I don't feel sorry for people like that.. I have 0 respect for them as humans. If they were really struggling, they could have approached me at some point and asked for help and there's a fairly good chance I would have helped with at least a meal... Idk . Well.. can't do anything about it now except replace and move on, maybe hit up jeep corporate and see if I'm ever going to get the hard top I ordered 3 months ago

I can’t abide thievery or the destruction associated with it. Costing others time and money. Those unproductive parasites don’t deserve any consideration. I’m for going full on Fight Club... “Take his balls.”

You should try to see if you can get a glass window for that thing. Or at least lexan?

I was all set for the soft top, but I think I'm going with a hard top instead.

Very sorry about your Gladiator being violated by a thieve, BTDT with other soft top Jeeps I had in the past. Never ever lock a soft top vehicle.
