holy crap... I honestly thought this day would never come for anyone. Let us know how it works out!
I will. My plan is to install it myself. And then figure out another solution for my 12v plug.

My wiring reached over to near the glove box - where I let it just lay back of the center area next to the GB.
My goal will be to find a place to put it - I have no current need, but still, who knows what the future may bring????

As far as a dealer clipping it - nope, no good well-trained tech would do that. They'd wrap it and tie it to existing wiring out of the way since it's part of another harness. Any dealer mechanic that would actually clip any unused wires is a HACK.
I never do that, ever. They get neatly bundled and tied close to the harness they are a part of.
How would I know that the owner wouldn't later want to trade or sell the vehicle and put the outlet back and keep the brake controller?

Nearly all boat trailers have surge brakes, not electric. And all travel trailers have electric. Surge brakes work when they push forward against the truck, all mechanical, nothing electrical. The boat trailers typically have a four-way connector just for lights; TTs have a 7-way.
Thanks. That's the info I needed, although all has been helpful. The JLUR and Mojave both have 4 and 7 ways factory installed. Boat will be small enough for the Wrangler, although from your post, I'm thinking the electric brakes are a non-issue. Thanks again!

How small? The towing capacity of the Wranglers is a pretty low 3500lbs and that is only on the unlimited with 410 Gears.

The biggest issue would probably be the wiring. I don't think the wranglers have a 7 way connector, or the plug under the dash.

Thanks for the reply. The Wrangler is a JLU Rubi so it has the 410 gears. Both the Mojave and the JLUR have a 4 and 7 way factory installed. The boat is going to be a 19-21' deck boat so weight shouldn't be an issue.

I wouldn't put anything past them. I had a family member get new wiperblades taken off and thrown away because the dash said they needed a X# service. Then charge a crazy price for the honda ones that were inferiour to the other ones. My dad had a dealer ad plate drilled into the bumper of his car that was going to a no front license plate state.

Sounds like you get the full 3500lbs towing on there then.

Which won't be enough for the boat in question . . . the trailer alone will be close to 1000 lbs.
For reference, my 21.5' bowrider ready to tow is 6000 lbs.

had not taken that into account total package weight for the boat we are looking at is 3950. Guess I'll have to talk the wife into trading her JL in for a JT!

OMG it’s real!

Should have been standard equipment on Max Tow from day 1. And having to sacrifice your 12V outlet to have it.....Total fail from Jeep, start to finish.

The thing is that so few people ever even use a 12v outlet these days, it's almost a waste to have one. That could be an option itself.
The majority of those who respond to questions like "what do you use it for" never use one.
Most things can be covered via USB with few exceptions these days.
My old Garmin GPS needs the 12v outlet, but that's all I own that needs it.

I need one for my tablet that has TOPO maps on it, and also for my trailer rear view camera monitor.
