I was into my dealer yesterday. I took a copy of the original TSB, in which I used a highlighter to mark the parts of the document I didn't what him to miss. ie The issue, If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure. along with the exact parts that should be ordered etc.

The first thing the service advisor did was to look up the TSB, it had been replaced with a newer one a week ago. (I asked for a copy, but he said he wasn't allowed to give it to me. Then laughed and said, "I'm sure you can get an updated copy from the same place you got the one you came in with" We did compare the two TSB's. The only difference appears to be the new TSB stresses the point to make sure the proper parts are ordered for the type of Jeep.

After my advisor had a quick chat with the Service Manager he came out and said, no problem, I will order the parts and have them installed. I did hear back later on in the day, everything would arrive in two days with the exception of the actual gearbox. There was currently a hold on even ordering the gearbox and that it could take upwards of 4 - 5 weeks for ordering to open. How long after that when it would actually arrive, was up in the air... so the wait begins. Being in Canada I'm not sure what effect that will have on getting the gearbox, but we will see.

I am a bit curious to know how others in Canada have faired in getting their gearbox replaced.

Cheers!

Did they do it with the sector shaft brace still on or did you have to take it off first?
I took the brace and all off before taking it in. They had given me flack about it before and 30 min getting it on/off was worth not hearing about it. I have seen where some dealerships have not cared and others have charged some labor. Like most dealer interactions it is hit or miss.

Do a quick search on adjusting the drag link. All you need is a wrench (15 mm, I think) and 5 minutes. That includes time for finding the wrench and putting it away.
True - but the sleeve in mine needed to be persuaded to move - so channel lock pliers with a rag to prevent scratching convinced it. Once it moved, I could move it by hand.
It usually takes a couple of times - adjust, tighten, test drive, lather, rinse, repeat until done.

Originally took my 2020 gladiator in for the TSB in early October. Finally got the steering box replaced and picked it up yesterday. Looks like the part they put in is part number is 68507569-AA

It seems the JT part number should be 68507576-AA

Did my dealership install the wrong part? And if so what are the consequences of this wrong part being installed

jromano...this same thing happened to me...my dealer installed the JL 4-door part. Everything I was able to determine is that the difference involves the steering ratio. The JL has the tighter ratio...not especially desirable in the longer wheelbase JT.

I immediately contacted my service manager, showed him the TSB stating the part number for the JT and a pic of the part number they installed. He took a look, agreed they made a mistake and scheduled installation of the correct part the next day.

Having driven the JT with both boxes, the truck is much better with the correct part. While the JL box was still better than the original part, it was a bit quirky and overly tight in the steering. The correct box feels great. I would recommend getting it fixed correctly and not live with the JL box...even if it means you have to wait a bit longer.

If you find the new TSB, please let me know. The original was of no good in Ontario, Canada.
Thanks

Ours was replaced. It took some doing...the first dealer said "It's a Jeep thing" So I contacted @JeepCares who referred me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Cares. The rep there was really helpful.

The new steering gear is much better than the first one was. Wandering is gone; still have a dead spot on centre. This change is very important. The vehicle now handles as it should have.

When I gave my service advisor the old TSB, he looked it up and the new one came right up. Wonder if you should hit up a different dealer.. Mine advisor was great!

I took mine in for an oil change today. Told the service manager I would like him to order me a steering box. Said I was third in line and they can only order one every two weeks, will call when they get it. No BS, just asked if the steering wandered.

Keffer here in Charlotte didnt ask any questions or require an inspection first. They just put me on the list. I had the update performed about 2 weeks ago now and am happy with the difference. I did have the steering brace still installed prior, so they hit me with an hour's labor to remove and reinstall it, but it is what it is. The drive (with Mopar lift, 37s, and a Fox stabilizer) is much more direct and can hold a straight line. Headwinds and Crosswinds at 55-65 are still a little dicey but WAAAAYYY better than before.

I've been trying to decide it I want to go through all this angst with my truck - it seems to drive fine now, and a couple of days ago I found myself on a very nearly empty stretch of freeway what was essentially straight for about 2 miles so I did an experiment: at 65 mph I placed myself in the center of my lane and let go of the steering wheel - the truck remained in the center of the lane for well over a mile with absolutely no input from me. I concluded that I don't seem to have a steering issue with my truck!

I don't have an issue either, but I am still going to get the steel box.

My 2020 Jeep gladiator rubicon was I thought ok too. But I brought in for oil change and service person said my Jeep Vin number was on a recall TSB for steering gearbox and 3 new computer flash’s. I had it done and it drives and runs like a whole different vehicle. It drives Fantastic. Mad a big big difference for the better.

Hi,
the old TSB worked for me in Ontario Canada.

The selling dealer was no help.

I reached out to @JeepCares and they referred me to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care.
1-800-465-2001

Second dealer was a big help. Took a while. The new steering gear is in the Jeep and makes a difference.

Hope this helps. Try a better dealer. :)

I'm not sure what others have experienced, but I have to be in dead center in the center lane of three lanes to have a hope of not drifting off to the left or right.
