When I opted for the Bluetooth speaker I sadly assumed it would do this. A bit pissed it didn't and regret that I wasted $ and storage space on it.Runner up - I wish i could pair the bluetooth speaker to the Jeep, I listen to XM while overlanding. So, obvious solution, play the ol'radio really load, just like old school
The way I understood the system is there are 2 pinions attached to the starter shaft. The one closest to the starter functions as a conventional starter does. I don't think this is correct. The on line photos of the starter (from OEM vendors), if correct show only one pinion. if there are 2 pinions and one is engaged all the time, it would increase wear on the gears and the drag would reduce fuel economy. it would also have to have some kind of one way clutch so it will freewheel when the engine is running.The way I understood the system is there are 2 pinions attached to the starter shaft. I agree and wouldn't call one starter with two gears a secondary or dual starter system. I don't understand what two gears even buys you. It's not the engagement gear I'm worried about wearing out -- It's the motor and/or solenoid that's prone to fail.I don't think this is correct. 3. The body panels seems to dent very easily which I think is odd for a vehicle that's suppose to be "rugged".
Oh and while everyone is talking about it. I don't find the ESS a big deal at all, but it does make me wonder what the long term quality will be. I like to get every drop out of my MPG.

Granted, I have the wingspan of someone that is 6’2” (a true knuckle dragger) so it may be a combination of the two. I always feel too close to the wheel, but not the roof...lol.
On the other hand, I have an automatic so the only thing with the ESS is when I hear it pop off when I start moving again. Otherwise it’s a vast improvement over the system in a Chrysler minivan I rented once. Just turn the radio up loud and forget about it.
When you have a manual transmission, the engine restarts when your foot depresses the clutch. At a red light, I leave the transmission in neutral and my foot off the clutch until the light turns green.Having owned a number of different vehicles with stop-start and rented even more I really cant understand the hate for it. I’ve never had it be an inconvenience or safety issue.
Whats the problem? Is it fear of change, “the eco people can’t tell me what to do”, or something else?
