Just wait till you get the infamous ESS error followed by loosing power going up hill, Vehicle not shifting leading to check engine light flashing.
8k miles x 3 trips to dealership do far and no fix!
You will then wish for these pet peeves

I found that with the eight speed auto if I pull the shifter to manual mode it deactivates the auto shut off. While I like the idea of it I can't say its easy for me to adjust too. Studies show it helps with emissions for commuting - ie heavy traffic, but it does add to the wear and tear. Shutting down and starting a diesel 20-30 times a day cant be good. I got the eco diesel because it gets great fuel economy (I avg 27mpg). Cant wait till the electric trucks are for real!
Half the time, in Pittsburgh, the auto-stop doesn't even turn on because I'm on a hill!

I took a 2020 Freedom Gladiator for a test drive and coming from a 2019 Mustang GT with open exhaust I never even noticed if the engine was running or if the ESS had kicked in when at a stop light.

So you've completely lost your hearing?

I respect everyone’s POV with regard to the environment, however I live in a country responsible for 1.5% of the earths carbon escape in the environment. I see no need to pay carbon taxes here and pay for vehicle controls that have no effect on the air I breathe. Other countries like the US and China, responsible for more than 50% of the carbon escape, yes.
50%? Source?

The data I quoted was from the US Energy Department from a DuckDuckGo search . It had the US at 18%, and China at 31%. Also in the material was a pie chart of users in the US. Overall the US military uses 50 million gals a month of fossil fuels - from 2016. The latest data also still has Canada at 1.5%.

Having owned a number of different vehicles with stop-start and rented even more I really cant understand the hate for it. I’ve never had it be an inconvenience or safety issue.

Whats the problem? Is it fear of change, “the eco people can’t tell me what to do”, or something else?
It's annoying

I don't know what you are fishing for here.
Not fishing for anything, genuinely curious what’s annoying about it turning off and on?
