Runner up - I wish i could pair the bluetooth speaker to the Jeep, I listen to XM while overlanding. So, obvious solution, play the ol'radio really load, just like old school
When I opted for the Bluetooth speaker I sadly assumed it would do this. A bit pissed it didn't and regret that I wasted $ and storage space on it.

I just hate when snow builds up on the roof and then you step on the brake and it crashes down on the hood. That's my biggest beef.

I would say my biggest pet peeve is the fact I can’t slide the seat further back so I can rest my left foot. Funny thing is I am only 5’8”. Granted, I have the wingspan of someone that is 6’2” (a true knuckle dragger) so it may be a combination of the two. I always feel too close to the wheel, but not the roof...lol.
On the other hand, I have an automatic so the only thing with the ESS is when I hear it pop off when I start moving again. Otherwise it’s a vast improvement over the system in a Chrysler minivan I rented once. Just turn the radio up loud and forget about it.

You're saying we have 2 starters onboard?
The way I understood the system is there are 2 pinions attached to the starter shaft. The one closest to the starter functions as a conventional starter does. There is another pinion that is in constant contact with the ring gear, and it activates when ESS requires it.
However, they be other finer points that I am not aware of.

So, I have to agree with you on one and disagree on one, the other I don't really care about.
The absence of a left foot rest is very annoying, and I thought I was the only one that even cared, but yes, for heavens sake, on an auto trans mission, give us a place to put our left foot!

Now, the Auto shut off. Since I have a Hybrid Lexus, I was used to having the engine shut off, and I'm a big fan of gas $'s not evaporating into thin air while I'm not moving in any direction. If the stereo is turned up, I don't even notice it starting and stopping. That said, you can program it out, or just make it part of the start up process. I also have a Hyundai Veloster Turbo, and everytime I start it, I disable the traction control, just habit now.

I have seen a few of these, but I have off road doors, so I can't use it; https://www.amazon.com/Hinge-Pedal-...cphy=9029549&hvtargid=pla-1204915890144&psc=1

I've never noticed the lack of a place to put my left foot. Now I'm going to have to think about it next time I drive it.

1.) For an off-road vehicle, it has a lot of places for dirt and mud to accumulate
2.) All of the drivetrain vents should be raised
3.) It's a pretty darned nice truck. I don't mind the 'characteristics'

I don't think this is correct. The on line photos of the starter (from OEM vendors), if correct show only one pinion. if there are 2 pinions and one is engaged all the time, it would increase wear on the gears and the drag would reduce fuel economy. it would also have to have some kind of one way clutch so it will freewheel when the engine is running.

I agree and wouldn't call one starter with two gears a secondary or dual starter system. I don't understand what two gears even buys you. It's not the engagement gear I'm worried about wearing out -- It's the motor and/or solenoid that's prone to fail.

If true, having a secondary gear stay engaged during auto-stop would give you a faster start and less wear on the engagement mechanism. Since this would most likely be run by an electromagnet, it's using power while engaged, so you wouldn't want it on during a regular engine stop.

I don't actually know how the specific Jeep system works and am building on what others said from understanding mechanical things in general.

Like I said, the finer points of the system.... reason for the secondary battery and secondary pinion is because for the most part the engine is already warm and there is less resistance to the start. As far as wear goes it is no different in concept than a cam gear running constantly, except the cam gear runs twice as many revolutions when compared to the flywheel. So wear should not bean issue.

1. I wish I had more slide-back with the drivers seat.
2. Powered rear window
3. The body panels seems to dent very easily which I think is odd for a vehicle that's suppose to be "rugged".

Oh and while everyone is talking about it. I don't find the ESS a big deal at all, but it does make me wonder what the long term quality will be. I like to get every drop out of my MPG.

Having owned a number of different vehicles with stop-start and rented even more I really cant understand the hate for it. I’ve never had it be an inconvenience or safety issue.

Whats the problem? Is it fear of change, “the eco people can’t tell me what to do”, or something else?
When you have a manual transmission, the engine restarts when your foot depresses the clutch. At a red light, I leave the transmission in neutral and my foot off the clutch until the light turns green.
It's very frustrating to push in the clutch, shift into first and, take my foot off the clutch only to find out engine hasn't started yet. Thankfully, Jeep gave us The Avengers button.

Just got the Hooke Dead pedal thanks to a member (kevin) suggestion, works on left foot rest
