I've got a new baby coming in December. Really hoping to get this delivered and setup before that happened. Don't want the wife to change her mind. Starting to think I should have just ordered the 21 months ago.

My wife and I are fully remote, and have been since the start. Before actually, we had a baby 12/19, and the doctors suggested we quarantine a month and a little prior due to a particularly bad flu season (kinda funny in retrospect). We saw Delta creeping into the scientific literature around the time vaccines became available for our demographic, and made the correct predictions in terms of what was coming. We used that post-vaccination interstitial pseudo-lull to sell down to just one car. I don't anticipate needing a second until probably March at the earliest (Delta boosters for us, and daughter will age into the 2-5 vaccine anticipated to become available in the next month or two, plus time to become fully effective and let the literature catch up for confidence).

In the meantime, as much as I'd like to have a new truck in the driveway, I know I wouldn't really get to use it much, and I'd be making payments on a toy I wouldn't be using. Instead, I'll bide my time, wait for MY22 and my favorite color, and put the forgone car payments into the modification account (I already have a "free" topper). Maybe another project car if used prices come back to earth. Waiting and uncertainty suck, but patience will reward.

News out this morning that BionTech is just now starting clinical trials for their Delta booster. Results anticipated end of year, 100 days manufacturing ramp up time. So push my "March at the earliest" prediction out another month or two. More time for a few good colors to cycle through, and to build up a forgone payment reserve to put toward modifications!

Gupton got back to me on Durango pricing we're working on and he indicated that to the best of his knowledge, 2022 orders should open next month. Those were the last details he had heard.

Yeah you're cutting it REALLY close. Especially now that the chip shortage has hit the JT line.

Yeah, I think you'd have to order a 2021 about now to have a chance at this. I'd guess 2022 order opens mid to late September, production doesn't start until mid to late October (probably aggressive), and then you are 8+ weeks out from delivery.

I ordered back on June 23rd and I’m not even sure if I’m getting my gladiator by December. After 4 weeks when I was still in the gathering parts for your build phase, I started asking Jeep chat why so many others were getting build dates and estimated ship dates as far out as November but I had heard nothing and they just said everything was fine and my Jeep would get built once the parts were gathered. When I talked to them yesterday I asked if it was even gonna get built since I’ve still heard nothing after 6 weeks and asked about what happens to my deposit if they don’t build it due to 2022 production starting soon. Rather than assure me they were building it like they have in the past they told me I’d have to contact my dealer about What happens to my deposit. Was a little bummed they don‘t seem as confident about it being built as they did in the beginning.

@Ry89JT Re: baby delivery. I was in a similar state two years ago. I ordered a ZR2 Bison diesel right as the GM strike hit in anticipation of a new baby. Long delays. Lots of uncertainty. We picked it up about a week and a half before my wife popped. The real lesson here is this though: I got it home, slapped some studded snows and seat covers on it, then it sat for the duration of parental leave. Then it continued sitting due to the pandemic. Then I sold it because after a year and a half, it had less than 8K miles on it and a lot of that was just to get miles on it so the battery stayed charged and tires stayed inflated and I had three cars and it was the only one with a monthly payment. Don't be in a huge rush. It'll happen. If you're avoiding exposing your baby to the virus like you should, you won't miss it much until part way through MY22 anyway. Relax and enjoy the new baby experience. Hopefully it's smooth and uneventful, or it might not be quite as enjoyable (spoken from direct experience).

@BMac316 That's more an issue of the deposit not actually being a Jeep thing. That's specific to the dealership, and subject to whatever agreement you signed when tendering it. Some dealerships require $500, some $1000, some more, some none at all. It's not a change in their tone of confidence, but a change in the entire subject matter.
