I guess 11/22 date is the start production date after all……boooooo
I'm thinking that's right too.

Reading that Autoblog article, which Car & Driver also picked up, I do see the confusion where they say Gecko will be orderable through October. I think that's just an error confusing when 2021s are orderable vs will be delivered. The whole premise of the article in fact is pretty lazy - Gecho has been orderable for over a week, but it's only being reported on because Jeep put out a Tweet. Plus the color of the Gladiator in the tweet is way too dark, which is easily checked since Gecko JLs are starting to show up on lots. So all in all not the finest automotive reporting I've seen...

Yeah, most auto 'blogs' or whatever miss the mark pretty bad these days.

Just means they will release whatever info that they would have at the show around the same time as before but only online I would think.
You can only hope. A lot of reveals were pushed back b/c shows were canceled over the past year.

Short color runs are to spur impulse purchases. It's the same strategy Costco uses for a lot of its inventory. "I better buy it now before it's not available" They don't want people waiting around for options that matter to them.

I do like the Jeep styling. I like the heritage as well, but I really hate the options packages and lack of standard equipment that Jeep puts out, especially for the premium they charge.

What consumers need at this point is some strong foreign competition to come in with good vehicles at a much more reasonable price point.
Years ago was working on some projects over in India and at that time talking to a group in India Mahindra was really trying hard to come into the US market with its knock off version of the jeep but at a very, very cheaper price point. I am sure somewhere along the lines that got nixed with some deep pockets lobbying

It's here, but not street-legal. I think they lost a fight with FCA over the grill design too and had to modify their import version.

After living and working in India for 3 LONG years, I would never even touch something Indian built with a 10 foot pole.

Mahindra had plans to export their small diesel trucks as well to the states. They didn't even come close to passing any safety requirement and that was the end of that.

IIRC, Mahindra contracted Mercedes-Benz Truck of Germany to do their third party independent testing thinking they would have a feather in their sales cap if they tested and bought into it. From what I understand, Mercedes-Benz Truck did not get too far into their testing before giving back to Mahindra and telling them in a polite way they had a steaming pile of shit on their hands.

Can anyone confirm for us today that it was a typo and 21 orders closed yesterday?

Ohh! Good catch! Maybe one of the forum dealer sponsors could weigh in? I can't seem to tag people (extremely bad, even for the third world internet connection)...
