Your belief is misguided.I believe the windshield glass has a special coating for the camera to properly look through it that is not present on the non-camera equipped vehicle.
The issue is the ACC system uses, and relys upon, the windshield camera, which is partially obscured (and 'fooled' by) the large Codan HF antenna body, which is mounted on the front right bumper. The fact that the brains of the ACC may be mounted inside the box behid the widnshield is not the point. This has no effect on, or from, the HF antenna. It's the fact that the camera is optically partially blocked, and obscured by, the antenna's large physical chassis.Adaptive Cruise Control is really cool. I recommend doing whatever it takes to check that box. My dealer told me all of those modules are in the box under the rearview mirror so it probably won't conflict with your antenna.
I think you are missing the point others are making. If you don’t activate the ACC, the HF antenna does not matter. You don’t need to de-power the gear in the windshield box, just don’t use the features. Turn off the FCW, etc. in the UConnect screens. The issue is the ACC system uses, and relys upon, the windshield camera, which is partially obscured (and 'fooled' by) the large Codan HF antenna body, which is mounted on the front right bumper.
