Like it - it works for me

I have a SmartStartStop module, so I am in complete control ESS.

Wait until the auxiliary battery dies and it leaves you stranded somewhere. I’m on my 4th time of being stranded

I yanked the main and aux batteries and replaced with dual battery configuration so I don't get stuck with a dead battery. The backup battery has been used a couple of times now. Never stranded.

I believe the manufacturer is just playing the numbers and know that the batteries and starters are going to wear out faster with ESS than not. I worked in the vehicle maintenance department for the postal service and with a carrier vehicle starting about 25 to ,50 times a day, starting a very tired 4 cylinder engine we were happy to see a year or two out of batteries and starters. And we even had starters manufactured specific, gear reduction, and larger armeture and windings. That being said I believe they are happy with getting you through the warranty period. I just wish they would have added a memory to the system so it does not default to on.
The autostopeliminator does exactly that. It remembers where you set it....

I typically have either the AC on or heat on so I don't deal with it typically. However, I dislike it. I'm turning it off as soon as I install my tazer.

All of you saving soo very much on gas, good on you.
It'll be eaten up by replacing both batteries...

Doesn't bother me one bit with the 6-speed. The list of conditions for it to work are long...it has only worked once, and that was when I was showing someone how it works. Normally, it never happens during everyday driving.

0/5 would not recommend.
It shuts the engine off way too quickly. Sometimes as soon as I stop then go again. It makes me cringe.

To me it seems the people that complain the most about it were the same people who moaned and complained when Daytime Running Lights first came out. So against change and complained that we would be replacing our lights more often and looked for any way to disable it...get over it already.

I find it annoying when I pull in to park and it shuts the engine down before I shut down for good, but I find if you don’t put the brake all the way to the floor it won’t shut down. So at shorter lights I step light on the brake, longer lights I put it all the way and save a bit of gas. It actually works pretty good, most of the time, and if I’m in stop/go traffic I shut it off.

I turned the DRL off the same time I disabled ESS. And those who tell you that ESS won't activate with the AC on are wrong. I pull out of the driveway with the AC blasting and it's 95 and 90% humidity and the engine shuts off when I stop at the end of the block.

I don’t get what al the annoyance is about? I’ve not had my Gladiator for about 5 months but the ESS works fine for me.

If it started to malfunction I could see the upset but as is it is a non issue.

It MAY be saving some emissions - a good thing
It MAY be saving me a little bit of fuel - a good thing
I can turn it off if I want to - a good thing
