Was the "sensation" you were feeling only during warm-up? Then back to a normal shift pattern feeling after?
Yes, but winter is here and it's a diesel so it's in "warm up" a lot of the time. I'm considering flashing the trans back to stock. Going to play around with using manual shifting to override the 2nd gear hangup first.

Mostly a Jeep thing as the Ram already has cold shifting raised from factory, whereas Jeep did not. You will have performance issues and possibly codes if you try to run the engine tune without the trans tune.

Really? Well I better not do that then. Good news is that the manual shifting is working out nice. I can just flip the shifter over to manual, upshift to 3rd, then once I hit the main paved road I flip it back to drive. Perfect workaround. ? I'm glad Jeep set the trans up like this from the factory. It's a handy feature that my Ram didn't have.

Everything else is still going great. My CEL never came back. Truck is doing great. Plan to do some towing next weekend. Fuel economy is still up over stock and the engine even sounds better.

I’ll be intrigued to see your temperature numbers associated with what weight your towing.

I sent you an email a week or so ago trying to verify if my PCM will need to be updated before tune. Purchased Dec 2020.
Best to visit your local dealer and ask to check part number on PCM and TCM. GDE cannot tell if yours is updated from a distance. If it is not updated, GDE can update it with WiTech, but it cost extra and Jeep/Ram want their cut.

Yeah unfortunately it'll be several months before I can really compare that to stock because we're headed into cold weather so 1. the heat load on the engine won't be the same and 2. we won't be hauling our full load to the campsites.

But, I will be pulling the 24' enclosed trailer this weekend to help my Aunt move so I can at least get a feel for it now with the GDE tune. I'm hoping the annoying 5-6-5-6-5-6-5-6 constant shifting every 0.5 second @ 65 MPH issue from the stock programming is gone now. That drove me nuts in the stock tune.

Thanks WXman for being an early adopter for the rest of us.!

Max Overland guy said on his recent video that the extra noise after shutoff was the def being pumped backwards out of the tubes so it doesn’t freeze and crack the tubes. GDE tune eliminates that annoying sound after shutoff. Are we talking about the same thing? Is he right about the sound source? Isn't that a problem?

It's hard to say. These trucks make multiple noises. Lol. There's the butterfly valve in the tailpipe that cycles and makes noise after shut-off sometimes. There's the fuel injection pump solenoid buzzing under the hood after shut-off. There may be others.

The one that GDE turns off is the fuel solenoid. In talking with them in person, they said they aren't sure why that solenoid was made to keep running after shut-down. I don't really know what the purpose of the fuel solenoid running after the engine is shut off would be myself.

When that happens, I would lockout 6th and keep the truck in 5th gear when towing. I just hauled this load 880 miles from Kansas to New Mexico. I locked out 8th and kept the truck in 7th where there was no shuttle shifting.

$200ish for a new PCM through any of the online Mopar parts vendors. GDE guys were able to flash it for me by copying my existing one and pasting to the new one.

Then they want the existing PCM for tuning because it has learned data stored inside that is important.

You have a part number for the PCM? Think I'm going to go the same route as you except I'm hoping I can just send them both in.

Do you have the ability to update the tune without having to send the pcm in again? Any plans for different tunes for different modifications(like intake, piping, etc). Also does yours have the light for regens?

i was going to go banks and pedal commander but decided this is the better way to go in the long run.

There were times I did go to manual shift mode. Thankful the Jeep comes with that.

Part # is P68256850AA

At this time, any changes would require the PCM to be mailed back to them. I already have cat-back exhaust and I've had a cold air intake kit on order since summer, so any day now on it... I hope the GDE tuning plays nice with the intake when/if it ever arrives.

I think that's a wise choice. The modules could potentially be a bad idea, but mainly I didn't want the hassle of having visible hardware to remove before dealer visits, especially with the complexity of the Banks installation.

Forgive my ignorance, does this mean that for those of us who never planned on buying a Tazer can get away with literally just the 12+8 cable and if so, something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/AUGOCOM-Universal-Adapter-Compatible-Chrysler/dp/B082PTBZ6K

If not, can you provide a link to a cable you've tested for folks to buy? Lastly, and just to clarify, this is for the TCM hand-held so with the bundle, you'd mail back our PCM and the TCU hand-held tuner and we'd leverage the 12+8 cable to apply the TCU tune?

What would that run if it turned out to needing the update? The local CDJR dealer doesn't like to be helpful. Getting ready to place order.
Dealer updates are free.

That cable works fine, one drive in customer used that and nary an issue. Yes, the by-pass is needed for the trans tune.
