So for those of you wondering how someone living in Houston and the suburbs goes offroading in such a flat area. It's kind of simple. We just take a drive into the city itself. Jump off the freeway and get on side/crossroads like Fondren, Richmond, Voss, Westheimer, etc. The roads will rival most offroad locations and possibly top them. They are laden with so many huge potholes, bumps, loose cement. You could easily have your left front tire up on a large bump in the road while the right tire is down in a hole.
We don't have the worry of falling off a cliff if we get off the path but we will have the same destruction of your truck getting smashed by someone if you try to dodge these obstacles.

Funny and sad at the same time. Not sure you even need to exit the freeways to enjoy some of those features!

Just like pothole season up here in the Snow Belt. Cars with low profile tires get screwed every spring.

Saw on today. Sports car had to stop. I was wondering why the cars were stopped on the road. Low Riding Beemer had stopped until traffic in the other lane cleared so he could go around. They would have left parts of the car possibly on the road if they tried to go over it. I just wonder how many pieces and parts have been torn or damaged by that hole on unsuspecting drivers

The struggle is real lol…I’m constantly looking for obstacles that I could climb as I drive through the city (that curb’s got no shot at stopping me). I got way too excited when I saw all the mud/dirt that the construction crew left on Shepherd Dr ?….

“Oooo, look at all that wet sloppy gravel. I think I need to go that way”

Man this is kinda sad hahaha. My Jeep needs to EAT!!!

LOL!

In the mid-90's I lived down there and took my YJ with a Hummer club to Spring Creek. There were some good trails, some sand, and a couple really good water crossings, one of which claimed a Hummer's 6.2. He caught a bow wave over the hood and the intake at the base of the windshield was under water long enough to hear, "POP!" I felt so bad for the guy. My little YJ crossed it not far from where he did, but I missed the deep hole he hit. The guy that runs River Oaks Car Stereo, Eddie Runner, invited me to go with them. Great guy. Not sure if he still wheels, or not, but he was into Unimogs a few years later. Had a taste for expensive off-roaders! My little YJ was only $11,700 brand new! Lol!

I worked at Sam Houston High School on Tidwell. If you worked late at night, you could go off-roading on your way home AND dodge bullets while doing it! LOL!

Voss is bad, but Chimney Rock adds extra fun with even narrower lanes and sudden dips and no median to protect you from oncoming traffic! Now that's some off-roading.
Yep I was on those roads today having some fun. Voss has the one that will tear your front end off or rip off your rear fender

You guys understand that Michigan has an ice cream flavor called Michigan pothole? I think we can end the topic here and declare the winner

Am sure there are other areas that have huge potholes. Just thought it was kind of humorous today when I had to go over to the Voss/Fondren, Chimney Rock area and we were driving. My wife was like damn sure glad we are in your jeep and not my car. That made me think of inner city offroading.

Here's a little video compilation a friend of mine put together. It was at Hidden Falls -
Cool I might have to go out that way one day to watch the trucks go through the trails. Is there like a kiddie trail I could take my truck on
