Just took mine in today. Dealership said they are replacing back window. I got appointment 2 weeks before. Don’t know how long it will be till glass comes in but I’ll have Jeep mean while.

What model year and build date are you guys driving? Wondering if this is something that has been fixed in later builds, or if they know what the real cause is.

So I got into the dealership. The told me the rear window seal is defective. Whole window needs replacing. $2000. But, I am 3000 miles over my bumper to bumper and I must pay for it. 68k Jeep, 39,000 miles and the back window seal is defective(their words not mine) and I must pay to replace?
Yep, sucks. Only things covered outside of 3/36 are powertrain, emissions, and corrosion.

Actually, when I look at the black part above the window, yours looks different than mine. Did they redesign it at some point? Maybe my eyes are deceiving me. Mine is a February 2021 build. @Sruss915, What's the white residue on the top of the black plastic on yours? Is that just from the water, or is it some kind of glue/sealant from the factory? Mine doesn't have that.

Yep. Makes me think real hard about springing for the extended warranty.

Mine has already partially paid for itself so far. Especially with the multiple radio replacements. I got to 80k miles

My build date fell around the driveshaft recall so yeah whenever that was but hopefully they addressed this on the newer models kind of a bummer but hopefully jeep corporate will do right and not slap sealer on it but do it right. Thinking bring up the bragging they have been doing on the bronco hardtop lol!

Yeah the white stuff on mine is definitely Calcium or sediment from the leak after it driesup. Found all this out 2k miles away from home in a rain storm lol goodtimes!

.... noticed mine leaking today. I'm not sure if I want to subject myself to the horror of a replacement. I might just polyurethane it and be done.

I truly dislike dealing with dealerships. They always give you the run around, no one takes an initiative or has any answers. They always try to avoid covering clear warranty claims, it's ridiculous. Anyway, I've got the leaking window as well. We've got a huge storm coming in this weekend and I'd really like to find a way to stop this leak before my appt next Wednesday. Has anyone successfully tackled this themselves?

Avoid the instinct to fill it with black silicone RTV as that will just make the window installers job that much harder to remove and run increase risk of damaging your top finish around the opening.

I used the weather seal mentioned in the link below. I bought it or a similar product at my local HD to tied me over until my replacement window came in. Not permanent and can be easily pulled up before your replacement install appointment. Had a few good rain events and kept the rain out.

I’ve also used this and it seems to be keeping water from leaking in around the seal…unfortunately, I think my center sliding window is also leaking as I have water in the top again.

Sadly for me I think my best option going forward is going to be to replace the hard top with a soft top. I’m out of warranty so there is no shot I will get a dealer to cover the new window or a new hard top. If I’m going to have to shell out a couple grand of my own money I’m sure as hell not going to roll the dice on paying for a new window or buying another hard top and hoping it’s better.

hi y'all new member here.

just to report I too have joined the club recently. the dealer got new window and got a 3rd party installer to replace it. HORRIBLE experience, they left glass shards all over in the cabin and outside the cabin in between the cabin and bed (hard to get to to clean!). dealer offered to do a free detailing but still missed some shards under the backseat.

I have had some luck with the weather stripping before the replacement came: it slowed down the leak but never fully stopped it. I end up putting a rag tucked in behind the backseat and change it like a diaper every 2 or 3 days ?

Taking mine in this morning for my leak. Already have a Jeep Cares case started. We’ll see what happens. Thankfully this is a lease, so if I am not happy with the results, I hand it back and wash my hands of this brand. Not thrilled with what I have seen so far and will lose $100 in decals when they replace the glass.

Update on my leak/repairs. Took it in on the 21st and the dealer determined it needed new glass. Took it in yesterday for install, and go figure, they scratched my Hydro Blue top. They are being stand up about having it repaired, but really sucks. No ETA on when I will have my truck back.
