OP did you ever try to contact Hellwig about this issue? I also have the bar on my stock Mojave and the instructions specifically say to mount to the OEM end links. Hellwig has been around forever and shouldn’t be selling parts that the vehicle can’t handle.

I bought my bar from forum sponsor Northridge4x4 who made an install video for it YouTube. It’d be interesting to get their take on it too.

That being said the Hellwig bar does in fact make a very noticeable difference especially when taking windy on and off-ramps.

Good idea....I'd like to know Hellwig's thoughts on this issue also.

That wouldn’t apply if you had an aftermarket suspension system installed.

Right - can't use OEM links with any sort of lift. IMO if you lift 2" you need links that are 2" longer, and so on.
I can see their recommending OEM links if you simply swap sway bars - no lift, no other changes.

Not sure if this is still about my broken tabs on the frame of my jeep that the links attach to. But in my case the links were not OEM stock standard length. They were the 2 inch longer AEV links provided with the AEV Mojave 2" lift kit...

For what it's worth, I think this issue is a part of the reason for the brake line and endlink plates that are used on the full AEV DualSport lift kits. It appears the brackets effectively act as a doubler plate, and it ties in with other mounting holes to reinforce the area.

Jeep Gladiator Broken tab/weld on Mojave Frame..No Warranty??? Captur

Raising the center of gravity and the roll center with a lift, and then putting on a much stiffer sway bar, likely adds up to a significant amount of extra force to the frame tabs than originally accounted for by the OEM.

I had the tab that holds the rear sway bar link literally tear (see attached pictures). No off roading or any other broken parts or damage. I think it may have happened when I fishtailed for a second on a patch of ice. Nothing else out of the ordinary has happened so I would assume that was the cause. I took it in to the dealer and they blamed the fact that there was an aftermarket sway Helwig bar installed(dealer installed the sway bar). They are refusing to fix it under warranty and blaming the sway bar as the cause, which amazes me. ANd they want $800 to weld it back together. I'm of the opinion that "FORCE" caused the metal to rip/tear not a better/stronger swaybar from Helwig. Naturally the "weakest link" in the chain is going to break under force. Which in this case is the Jeep sway bar bracket on the frame...

See the pictures and I'd love to have your opinions on this. I tried involving JeepCares, called and through this form and all I get is the phone number for a different dealer who have all been trained to blame any aftermarket part when remotely possible....I'd like a quilified engineer to comment on this if anyone out there is a PE.

What do you guys think???

One of my big reasons for selling my JL was the premature rusting on all the welds and overall what i thought was schotty worksmanship on the welds and frame. Keep in mind this mojave is supposed to be “strengthened”.

Did you get another JL or JT? Or what was your conclusion?

Doubt you will see any difference in weld quality or rusting issues between the JL and JT. As for the strengthened frame, it has some additional welding in a few areas, doubt it really makes any difference at all.

The early JLs had some weld issues that were a flaw in the production process. That might have been what you encountered on your JL if it was an earlier 2018.

Another reason why I never buy a first model year.

Do you mean earlier 2018 model year which would mean it was BUILT in 2017 or a 2018 late model year which would have been built in 2018?

Normally when we talk of "early xxxx model" we mean the vehicles built in the year prior in automotive things.
A car built in March 2005 is a late 2005 model.
A car built in November 2004 is an early 2005 model.

When people send me cars and parts to work on and they say "late 1995" I know it was made spring or later 1995. If they tell me the part is from an early 1995, I know the date code must be 1994.

I'm using model year, not calendar year.

But Jeep usually doesn't immediately switch to the next MY on Jan 1 like other manufacturers.
