Beware windows bolts on 2021 jtr

Not sure if it's going to be an issue for other folks but wanted to give folks heads up on removing the windows bolts on a 2021 JTR

Was doing a proximity door sensor install today, not a huge job buy when I can around to removing the 2 10mm window bolts they both snapped right off with my small Ryobi impact driver.
The damn bolts were so damn tight that they were likely glued on... There was some greenish residue.

Best part is that they used grade 8.8 bolts that are inside a $10 plastic bracket... Absolutely no point to do that but making it a total bitch to drill out.
Easy outs didn't work. I managed to get on bolts out, the other drilled larger.

Anyways, a 30min job turned into a 2h pain in the ass.

I did mine a week ago and mine had Blue thread lock and came out very easy with hand tools ! Built date 2/19/21 . I guess they changed from Green to Blue at some point in time .

Jeep is an EOE. Color blind guy on the assembly line in the wrong spot.

Every time i touch the jeep i say in my head 'this 30 minute job is one broken bolt from being a weekend project.'

my wife automatically adds 2 hours to whatever im doing to the jeep......just in case. lol

I have not installed them myself yet.
I had them OEM on my Overland. But, my Rubi doesn't have them.

I do plan to add them. But with only 1K miles on the truck, I'm waiting a little while in case I have any electrical issues. I don't want them to blame me and deny warranty repair.

Yeah I might talk to my guy at the dealership about what they would charge to install and if that would keep me from having to deal with warranty issues. My guess is it will be a lot more than I'd want to spend. Looks like a 30 minute job

I did pay right in that ball park but the convenience of just having that key fob in the pocket and not having to pull it out and hit the lock or unlock buttons anymore is a great plus ! Just touch the handle or push a button on the handle and your done ! I love it !!

Thank you! I had this feature on my VWs for the past decade. When I bought this JT off the lot I knew I was losing the feature but didn't think I'd miss it as much as I have. Surprising how that one little thing adds so much.

I did it a couple of weeks ago with the help of a member I purchased it from. We were super careful with those two bolts and used a manual ratchet and they came off without trouble luckily.
