Sorry all to have to make yet another post. I was having a number of people start to come back to me with drivability issues, especially off idle. These were not annoyances, they were significant control issues. I have been working with the 2021 operating systems for a while and have a number of machines running my tune with no issue. Unfortunately Jeep as made a change at some point and there is a new operating system that does not use the same definitions for the setting tables as the the previous machines. As such I can build a tune and it looks as if it has taken, but unless it is bench tested, or machine tested, you do not realize half the parameters have not been set. This shows up as noticeable issues off idle and at low speed cruise. The throttle feels disconnected, and that is because it mostly is.

below is a screen shot of what I am talking about. I have found doing a compare to my original base files will show me the missing parameters. Everything in Gray is missing from the 2021 Jeeps and is not getting set for new tunes.

The good news is I have brought this to HP Tuners attention and we are working the issue. Many tables have been found and are being added back in, but it is still in process.

I also have been doing builds and bench tests before selling tunes, and unfortunately have had to put many people on hold, when I find they have this operating system.

SORRY Everyone, I am doing my best to keep up and provide the best support.

Not as bad as the ECM change, but somewhat close!

What does a diesel have to do with anything in this thread. Nothing is broken, the operating system is just not condusive to tuning. The diesel suffers the same fate 10x.

Usually do not rebuttal, but this post will not help inform those trying to make decisions on what route they should take on a 2021.

Dave, no disrespect meant. You were probably too busy and didn't read some of the topics. There is a constant bashing of the diesels. I'm just trolling against the gas motors! No harm intended.

I am cool with the post, maybe not a fan, but cool. This is just a sucky topic. I do not understand why Jeep is doong these things and then just shunning the aftermarket. I am sure my woes are nothing compared to the bigger companies trying to make cool stuff for us. And what about the end customer? Nevermind the aftermarket stuff, but does jeep believe 80 percent or more of the techs out there will have any idea how to troubleshoot and correct airflow issues in a control strategy this complicated and inconsistently implemented. My guess is no they will throw parts at it until traded in or lemoned. The whole ECM thing just explodes my head! The guys getting the new stuff are getting the shaft.

Maybe an aftermarket opportunity to see how we get the older controls back on these newer rides?

Is it a change in ECU or just a change in addressing of various trim tables?

It is basically a change in how it calls for variables from various tables. To help the scaling of the variables has changed on several tables by 1/100 or more. So if you put my current values i. The throttle goes wonky and so forth.

I am not wven sure if other manufacturers are aware, probably have people driving around with really weird throttle response or just introducing power at WOT and no where else.
