68487853AA====>68487853AB Paddle Down Switch

I have not received the updated switch to compare any differences, just ordered it, as my left paddle I received had faulty/loose radio buttons.

Got my paddles installed.
A few lesson learned.

For back ground I am reusing my ruby steering wheel and I have the ZF 8hp75 EcoD trans. All works just the same as the gasser.

1. Be very careful installing the Cruise control and menu harness plugs, the pins on those are very thin. I managed to bend one on my cruise control button set when plugin in the first time. I managed to bend it back but only after I had to remove the steering wheel and all the stuff for a second time.

2. check your radio buttons on the paddles before you install, my left paddle had a very loose/rattle'y radio button i noticed after install.

3. I was able to get the paddle bezel to sit flush against the steering wheel by using a small soldering iron tip and using the high heat setting to melt and undermine the foam under the leather. I undermined just enough to make the foam more pliable to compression and site flush to the bezel. I started out by pressing the shifter in place which will leave slight marks in the leather giving you a outline of where to stop the undermining, doing a little bit at a time until i was happy.

4. I used jscan and did a search for "pad", which gives 2 options. I enabled those.

5. If you want the jscan activation to go faster then 24hr, disconnect the batteries and re attach after a few minutes. I disconnected the batteries because I was scared of working with air bag. The second disconnect happened because of item 1.

Disconnect is not traditional because the jeep will still have power if you just remove the main battery ground. You need to disconnect both big wires from each other going to the main - battery terminal to have no power going to the jeep.

6. All wire ends of the new harness, even the ones you don't use will have a place in the trim where they nest/clip to so there will be no loose wire ends rattling around.

7. My 7" screen does not display the enable/disable paddle shifter check box under driver aids. But they work, by using Jscan to active them.

Interesting. My right side paddle has buttons that pop out of place a bit if I tighten the screw all the way.

Hmm mine are full tight, I'll see what happens when I loosen them a bit

Don’t enable the paddle shifter CSM. It doesn’t function on our Jeeps and isn’t necessary. None of the MOPAR vehicles that currently come with paddle shifters have that enabled.

You won’t get an upshift indicator. The Jeep will shift on its own at redline if you haven’t shifted yet.
FIXED!!!

Thanks Again

Happy to help! Now if we can just figure out a solution to the gear indicator when hitting the paddles from “Drive”.

Do I have to disconnect the starter battery as well to remove the steering wheel and the airbag?

It's best that you remove both + and - cables off the Battery and wait at least 30 min. for the air bag compactors to drain down B4 you start messing with the air bag...

I didn't know how involved it was to remove the starter battery until I saw a video of it.

I removed the negative terminal on the main battery and the main engine bay ground terminal. Then tried to run my on-board air compressor, just to make sure no residual charge is floating around in the Jeep’s electrical's

My switch covers came in and they fit perfectly!
