2020 JTR 2" Mopar + 37" Nitto Grappler since new - 16.4k orig Alum, I had accepted having to pay attention / hands on wheel more than any vehicle I've owned due to medium level of JT road wander.

Figured get TSB done still under warranty. Better handling/less wander no doubt - what I wasn't expecting was a 'transfer' of bumps to feel it more in the suspension vs previously having to steer after bumps. To the point of 4 death wobbles in one morning (another thread).

Now looking into the synergy brace.

My order got placed July 2019, Aug 2019 build, took possession September 2019. 37k miles and 29 months later still absolutely no issues with my aluminum steering box. I think both parties have valid points on this. Guys have had the new box installed, complained, received a 2nd new box, and still complained that 3 steering boxes were the problem and not themselves. This gives credence to the idea that it's a "you" problem and not a mechanical issue. The Gladiator in particular has brought a lot of people into a SFA vehicle for the first time in their lives. The flip side of that coin is that lots of experienced Jeep people have had steering problems and now are happy as clams with their new box. As pointed out Jeep did come up with a revised box because of a real problem with the original part. I've never experienced what people describe here, but it's going to be more and more a moot point as people trade out the gearboxes that are out there.

2020 with 13k miles on the original aluminum steering gear. No concerns for me.

I find I drive differently now. I hold the wheel a little looser than I would before, allowing for minor corrections on the fly. You don't want to hold the wheel perfectly still. I can drive straight with one finger, just don't take your eyes off the road for longer than it takes to check your mirrors.

Truth be told, I think it makes me take driving a little more seriously. I avoid the temptation to drive with my knees, take my eyes off the road, or anything that would distract me from what I'm doing.

my 2021 doesnt have the drift my 2020 did.

2020 was a sport

2021 sport s max tow

same wheels and tires on either vehicle and my 2021 has not had the pulling, steering wheel drift, nor does the steering feel as loose as my 2020.

Most people leave out the fact that caster is off or the tires they choose are super heavy mud tires.
Actually, most who complained were all STOCK, 100%. Mine was 100% stock and this is far far far from my first vehicle to use this sort of front steering and suspension.
When even the service writer tells me "they should not drive that way" and the tech tells me "we need to replace your steering gear", tell me again it's a jeep thing.
It's not.

There's zero reason for the way some of these are behaving. The proof is in the fact that most are very happy with these on long trips or as daily drivers. My wife has driven everything from tractors to trucks to other Jeeps (yes, with straight axle) and even commented "I hope there are no cops behind us, they'll think I'm drunk" when she first took mine out on the highway.
I've worked on everything for decades, 50 years worth of suspension, steering work, and more, and have driven boom trucks, grain trucks, you name it- my JT steering was not good, and now it is.
So how can someone claim the sort of stuff you are claiming when I saw a difference between the stock steering gear with STOCK tires and no lift and good caster compared to the replacement steering gear - all stock tires, no lift and good caster?
If "it's just how these drive" then how was mine corrected with the replacement part?

You are also comparing other Jeeps - shorter Jeeps with different steering, to the JT - apples and oranges!

Hey. Still original box. only 20k. Steering on my 2020 sucked. put larger Goodrich tires on and felt it improved and now I am used to it and compensate without thinking about it but like my older jeeps I keep my eye on the road and don't fiddle with stuff while driving.

I tried to get my dealer to do it when addressing a transmission leak. They denied me due to a lift and 38’s. Opened a case with Jeepcares, we’ll see what happens.

I still have the old aluminum gearbox. I have always had a 2-3 degree of free play. Driving slow, in town it is not much of an issue. It's the highway driving when it becomes a problem. I took mine in last week. They sent me on my way after ordering parts. I waited three weeks for the appointment. The parts will be in next week, but I had to make another appointment which is 4 weeks out.

Do we know if guys opening a case with Jeepcares have been successful? Want to get it checked out but don’t have tolerance for the run around. Thx.

Had mine since Aug 2019, almost 50K on the OD, still have the original steering box and drive 70+mph with one hand, unless I'm between two semi's but that is about flat sides not steering boxes.

What runaround?
JeepCares doesn't fix things or even make dealers fix things. See a dealer as that's what has to happen first before they'll get involved. They don't have power, they just make things more convenient. First thing they will tell you is go see a dealer. Take the TSB with you, it's really simple.
