I think it's cooler that it DOESN'T have a dedicated front clip and how many parts are shared
You can still have the interchangeable parts that matter , but look different . I have zero complaints about the chassis . Historically the gladiator has never looked like a jeep . But different strokes for different folks .

1. Because they didn’t.

2. Because it’s a 4 cylinder in a Jeep, I could care less.
1 I figured that out . Still don't love it .

2 In contrast to what ? Just curious

1. Lol

2. Idk, old school mind set I suppose? Some people still cry with the death of the og 4.0 I6. I don’t know that I’d opt for that 4 banger option, but I don’t think it’s a bad one.

I agree that the 2.0 is a strong little engine, but I prefer the relative simplicity of the 3.6 Pentastar. It is a proven engine that works great with the eight speed. The 2.0 has great power, I have driven many of them (I work at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership), I have always been impressed by the power it makes.
From a reliability standpoint the 3.6 is proven so I agree.

Wasn't the original jeep a 4 banger? The real original one, back in 1941?

I can agree , I would prefer the pedestrian 5.7 be offered . But when folks tell me the 2.0 is a dog , I don't think they have had the pleasure of driving one. Plus it's pretty easy to turn up the wick . I'm not trying to sell this thing , despite sounding so. Lol

This is how I feel as well. I like that it looks like a Wrangler and there are a lot of interchangeable parts.

Despite the fact this is happening in my driveway currently . It's just OK to me .

First , why couldn't Jeep at least put a proper dedicated front clip on the Gladiator? For all the waiting we did it really sucks to call it a Gladiator and have no real distinguishing factor from a wrangler when viewed from the front . It would have been cool to see a variation of the CDR or innovative auto front clip . Even a later model throw back would be nice .

Second , why do I keep coming across haters of the 2.0t in the JL ( I know it's not offered in the Gladiator ) . It's is a pretty strong running little engine , and murders my 3.6 . I get a ton of comments on how it's not suitable and doesn't make power , but have these folks actually driven a 2.0. I've had both and just want to clear the air . From a power perspective the 2.0 rips .
I was in getting my JTR serviced last week and the dealer had two 393 Wrangler Rubicons in the showroom. Just as they left the factory, they were both over $105,000.00. I am waiting for the Hurricane to get delivered. That is a motor that will rip.......

I prefer it looks as much like a Wrangler as possible.

I actually wish GM would go back to sharing front ends between the Silverado and Tahoe/Suburban.

I think the goal was to make the Gladiator look like a pickup truck wrangler.

In other words, making it unique would be counterproductive.

Re the 2.0. No doubt its a better match to the Wrangler or Gladiator than the pentastar. I like the pentastar, but after 6000 miles I can't help but think how great it would be in a 3000 lb roadster with a 6 speed manual. Ha.

The fact that it looks like a wrangler is my favorite part of the truck. it’s why I bought it.

And btw what is a “clip”? Never heard anyone refer to anything like that…

We used to call it the front clip on vws and Hondas too. It refers to the front end, before the fenders. Basically headlights, grille, bumper, side markers.

Folks would swap Integra front clips onto civics and vice versa. Or put golf front clips on Jettas.

I think you can actually put a charger front clip on a challenger too. Edit: yes, you can.
