Seriously? I know I know ridiculous to get annoyed about it but I took that Gladiator in for it's Tread Lightly oil change yesterday. They come get me in the waiting area after the oil change is done and hand me keys and paperwork. As I'm walking out the door they tell me we didn't rotate your tires like you asked because our tech says "they are wearing evenly already" WTF! Seriously? Rant over

Wow. I had them rotate mine every oil change and that’s why they are worn evenly after 30k miles.

I TELL THE DEALER what is to be done, they do not tell me. Should a service rep tell me this, I would send the vehicle right back in and then WATCH them rotate the tires to be sure they did it and it was done correctly.

that sucks. but man it sure is funny to me. what a bunch of clowns. i don’t trust dealers. on my jk i used the free oil changes and had a loose filter leaking oil. it was extremely loose. and another time the cross threaded my oil fill cap. luckily the caps plastic was softer than the plastic on the engine side.

Not ridiculous to get annoyed at that at all, that's lazy B.S.. I'll bet the tech flagged for it also. Obviously the whole point is so that keep wearing evenly, if you wait until you see uneven wear to rotate them you're too late.

But... I look at it as dodging a bullet - You can now rotate em yourself and:
- Know that its been done
- Know that its been done correctly
- Know that the lugs have been torqued correctly
- Know that if you get a flat on the side of the road, you'll be able to get the lugs off and successfully change the spare instead of cursing the tech that left the impact wrench on each lug for 3 mins!!!!

I just got my Gladiator back from the dealer and on the list was "multi point inspection". Apparently that didn't mean to look at fluid levels and filters. My power steering fluid was below "low" and my cabin filter needed changed. After pointing it out, the service writer was pretty pissed at the tech, had a 2nd tech go back through the jeep and check everything. Left with an oil change, full power steering fluid and a cabin filter.

I can't speak for all dealerships, and it's been almost two decades since my wrench turning days, but I always rotated tires. If I or anyone else tried to pull that shit at any of the dealerships I worked at, they would get written up post-haste.

How else are you supposed to convince the customer their pads need replacing and their rotors need a turn if you dont pop off the wheel?

In all fairness, the dealers i worked for wouldn't have really cared if I just put em back on the same hub I got each tire from, but since they're already off, there's no reason not to rotate.

Dealerships now typically have a few guys that do oil changes and tire rotations. They usually have a guy who does alignments also. If you bring it in with warranty concerns, then a tech might change your oil and rotate the tires. It’s an efficiency thing.

Part of the reason I rotate ours despite leveraging all 3 free wave changes (while specifically telling them no worries on the rotation) is because I'd be clearly stretching the courtesy with 100lbs+ of aftermarket on each corner. If your avatar is your rig, I imagine you're at what, 150lbs or better per corner? Show up with a pizza next time or something, jesh.

In all fairness, they have a lift... they can raise it to the EXACT height that the wheel comes off and they can roll to the next one. Thats what I do when I rotate in the driveway.

Get some sidewalk chalk and use a different color for each tire, including the spare. That way, YOU know if they actually did the work or "pencil whipped it".

I mark 2 tires with chalk, one in front and opposite tire in back. So far so good! I would not leave until it was finished
