@#$#&*@#.. Dammit. Here is a new one. JT is 8 weeks old. Installing front camera onto windshield this morning. Pushed on the 3m for camera mount, unscrewed grab handle to start wire route and right then this happened???? WHA???? The gorilla glass could not handle pushing on the 3M for the camera and unscrewing grab handle. Going in monday for pics to see if Chrysler will put under warranty. My sale guy said he had never seen a circular crack around the entire windshield

Washing the JTRD today. I notice some small chips on the right side. Hoping that they don't grew.

I'm almost thinking these factory GG windshields are defective.

I don't fit into any of the above scenarios. 6 months in with a GG windshield. several very very small chips. So far none of them are spreading.

When I ordered my truck in 10/2021, GG was $199. 2 months earlier it was $99.

At those prices it seemed a no brainer and was worth a shot.

At todays cost (I believe $499) unless I was sure that my ins company would pay to replace a GG window with another GG window, I wouldn't even consider it.

Interesting bit I found in the owners manual stating "windshield" is covered under warranty for 1-year or 12K miles. So I think a windshield crack that occurs with no impact mark should be covered.

F. WHEN IT ENDS The Basic Limited Warranty lasts for three years from the date it begins or for 36,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first. But the following items are covered only for one year or for 12,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first: • Brakes (rotors, pads, linings, and drums) • Bulbs • Clutch Discs or Modular Clutch Assembly (if equipped) • Wheel Alignment and Wheel Balancing • Windshield and Rear Window • Wiper Blades

Even $495 is still a good deal: the HGP windshield is $700.
That's assuming, of course, that the OEM GG windshield is as tough as the HGP windshield.

In Feb. I had my Gladiator less than a week and a 4 inch piece of solid ice from the roof of truck in front of me directly hit my GG windshield without a mark. I have no idea if the regular OEM windshield would have fared the same, but at that time I was glad I spent the $195 for the upgrade.

Good news. FCA is going to replace my windshield. Got the call yesterday. The dealer is great about the whole thing and has ordered the replacement for me.

Bringing up this older thread to essentially say thank you and recommend HGP ...

The short version is that I have gone through 2 standard Mopar windshields (in less than 6 months of ownership)
Switched to Mopar gorilla glass ... it lasted longer but the dealership did not honor the warranty
Switch to HGP which survived a #@!$#@! driving the other direction on a 55mph road (while I was also going 55mph) and chucked something out of his window and hit the middle of my windshield ... no mark was left ... here is the important part though ... several months later, an unrelated crack appeared for reasons not directly covered by their warranty but roughly covered by the spirit of their warranty ... I entered the warranty info on their website. They sent an email for additional, reasonable information a couple of days later. About a week later I received an email apologizing for the delay and letting me know that they should have an answer on Monday. I just received the shipping info from them about a week and a half after the initial submission.

2 things that make me recommend HGP
My time is valuable and I would rather not spend it replacing windshields.
The number of companies honoring not only the letter of the warranty but also the spirit without harassing them is exceptionally rare.

I have no financial interest in HGP.
Just thought that I would share my experience.

You should add the Hyper Glass Performance windshield. I don't know what they do differently with their formula vs the later OEM GG option, but I've got 17 months and 22K miles on mine, with not a scratch. I had TWO divots in my plain glass window in 8K / 5 months.
Half the cost of gorilla glass!

If comparing to MOPAR's pricing for GG - of course! People will pay for that trademark Jeep in the lower right corner.
But HGP makes GG windshields, too........ so it sort of depends to what you are comparing.

Last car I replaced the windshield 3 times. Changed driving habits , avoiding construction zones on highways, leaving 8 car gaps...etc. 30k miles still oem glass no marks. Knock wood.. never driving I-4 in Orlando ever again helps a lot

I suppose it can make a difference but in every case of our broken windshields - either my trucks, or my wife's Jeeps, there was no one in front of us.
With one of our Grand Cherokees I was in the left of 4 lanes. A concrete truck was ahead of me two lanes to my right - he was at least 4 lengths ahead of me. A rock dropped off his truck and bounced across the freeway - across both lanes. It was as if in slow motion. I could see it coming but couldn't do a thing about it. SMACK, right in the middle of my view from the driver's seat.

The last time it happened on my 2020 JT, we were headed north on a highway and right as a south bound truck passed we heard a horrible SMACK! LOUD, it scared my wife. Got home and didn't see anything (it was dark out) and a day or so later, there was a nice crack coming down and across from the top center of the windshield.

In each case, there wasn't a vehicle in our lane directly ahead of us. And in one case, the truck was clean over on the other side of the freeway, well ahead.

I've never had it happen due to a vehicle in the same lane in front of us.

There's a problem with saying "I've gone 2 years without a hit so this glass is better" - it's proof of nothing as it's also just as possible any other glass would not have broken. You can't prove anything unless you hit each glass with the same exact same size and shape projectile going the same speed.
Otherwise, it's all down to chance.
We've not had a broken windshield in our last two Grand Cherokees so obviously the glass is better now.
The glass in my 2022 is unbroken and yet in under 6 months the glass in my 2020 was broken, so this is better glass.

Actually said to support that years/miles really dont matter. I have been lucky. And dont do stupid stuff like tail gate trucks on bad highways. My JT is the first car to go this long without a chip/crack. Blind luck
