Has anyone contacted FCA?? They can track it. Though I suspect if the thieves are savvy enough to use an iPad to start it, they know to disconnect the LTE and GPS antennas.

I flew B-52s for many years, was an Air Liaison Officer (ALO) and travelled South of the border on special missions. I would see a lot of Harleys and F-150's with all the numbers scratched off. Even fake HD dealers selling the stolen bikes like a true HD dealer. The prices were mind-boggling.

OP, very sorry for your loss...And I agree, it is disgracefully how easy these things can be stolen. Between what you experienced and the fact that the FOB design is also a disgrace with more and more vehicles across the industry being robbed that way every day, not to mention in jeeps case no hood lock and no gas cap lock (a sign of Jeep "arrogance" IMO), the jeeps might as well come with a sign - "Steel ME Please!". Or perhaps come up with a new Jeep "Rating Badge", like "Theft-Friendly" and mount it next to the trail rated and desert rated badges as the case may be  .

Yep, there are some who say nothing can stop a determine thief so why do anything to prevent it, and that does have some truth, but that doesn't mean the manufacturer's should make it easy for them - lol!

I am glad I can park mine in the garage every night.

Now there is a plan. Leave a Gladiator parked out on the street with the windows down and the doors unlocked. I'll hide in the bushes with my Atticus at the ready..... and when the effing thief comes sneaking around, I'll deploy the Atticus. Oh, I'm sorry.... this is Atticus.

Yep, that's exactly how they're taking all the other Mopars too. They stole your keyfob signal. Maybe I really should start wrapping mine in foil.
I was wondering about this also after I read the post about them using a ipad or something near the vehicle...

Well, as everyone probably knows there was a long thread about preventing FOB theft. Easy fix really, store your keys at home (yes they can sniff your code right through the wall to the great outdoors) in a Faraday-BOX (dirt cheep) and on the road in parking lots and stores put your fob in a small faraday bag (also on amazon). This will lower your chance of having a FOB theft immensely - probably to an insignificant level (but of course not exactly to zero).

Locking the hood is a false sense of security ... anyone skilled in the craft of car entry can unlock the car and have the hood opened in probably less than a minute. Locking the hood would be more a deterrent from someone less skilled and more inclined to meddle vs steal the entire vehicle. The "Plug" system previously mentioned seems like a solid anti theft solution.

I would be curious if there was any video from the days up to the theft ... did they plant something on your vehicle that might have captured your RF FOB signal? The fact that they simply entered the vehicle and drove away makes me suspect this was premeditated and not an act of opportunity.

I’m sorry to hear that OP. Thieves suck. My old boss just told me that someone recently stole his HEAVILY modified Honda S2000 as well (NW Freeway Area of Houston). Ridiculous.

We all work or have worked hard to get these vehicles. It really pisses me off that there’s people out there cheating life at the expense of others.

We had someone break into our house a few years ago, when I had a plum crazy pearl Challenger. They stole my watch collection, including my beautiful fake Rolex. I think they thought it was real haha. They stole some jewelry and things, but they ransacked everything. Fortunately, we don't have a lot of stuff, and none of our jewelry is expensive or high end. The damage they did to the house while breaking in was more expensive than the theft itself.

We're convinced they wanted the challenger, and came in to get the keys, because they went all through it too. But it was manual. We think it was some crackhead looking for a fix and a joyride, but they couldn't drive it, and we don't have any money or drugs.

Being that the OP is Canadian, south of his border would put the Jeep in America.
But this isn't the first time Canadian thieves have stolen Jeeps.

The day after I picked up my Gladiator I added hood locks. Mainly to keep my batteries and LED lights safe….and now the jeep itself.

My last Wrangler (TJ) had “The Plug” installed. Now that Iloved!!!! Good luck stealing the Jeep with that. Properly installed it is AWESOME! I have put it on my other cars over the years as it is not some stupid alarm piece. You could leave the keys on the seat without the doors on the car and without the matching unique plug pin the car still will not go as the plug is required to complete the electrical circuits within the car for starting.

They have held contests to see if someone could steal the vehicle with the plug and nope. You have to spend hours tracing all the wires in the engine bay as it is camouflaged etc. Sure they could tow away your JEep but easier to move on.

Most thieves do not even know what the Plug is so have it installed somewhere reachable but somewhat obscure. Even if they figure out the obscure gray plug is involved and cut the wire right at the plug it does not do a bypass letting them steal it.

That so sucks they took it.
That's a cool device, how's it holding up now? Also where/what hood locks do you have? Sounds like I need to get some sooner than later

Perhaps a hidden kill switch might prevent it

Sorry for your loss. Hope you recover from it.

I have a hood lock and a kill switch wired into the Push To Start button. The thieves may be able to start it but will not be able to drive away with it ?
