I should def do more wheeling. ;). 2dr Jeeps are highly overrated (and incorrect) for wheeling and being the better footprint. They're the worst footprint for offroading, even dangerous.

But the real point is...you went to extremes with your replacement models.

Ok I stand corrected

I still don't get the "dangerous" part. They're more maneuverable, you simply need different lines. Dangerous in the hands of someone who doesn't know what they're doing?

And yes, I would replace something that could do it all with extremes

Flop/roll risk is much higher. Cargo space is garbage. Ride quality is for shit.

There's a reason any real offroader stretches any 2dr they have. Hell, even Jeep did it with the LJ.

Painted looks significantly better for the hardtop and *factory* fender flares
Jeeps look dumb if the top isn't the same color as the body.
So is the like button acknowledgement of the truly unpopular or a sign of agreement?

Most of this thread is pretty benign but @NinaFox317 was the first to make me say aww hell no. I would buy a Ridgeline before I bought a Jeep with body color fenders and top.

My black plastic fenders look terrible from all the scratches on them, but you have to look close to see it. My wife's painted fenders look terrible from scratches too, and it's obvious from any distance. I like the black flares for this reason, plus the contrast. I could go either way on tops, depending on the exterior color and trim.

Utility aside I love the contrast the most - especially the fenders. It's just a very Jeep thing to me growing up loving the YJ and TJ.

life too short to be beefing over autostop or 35" tires and no lift or why my leather seats a hot in the sun or why my cloth seats smell like ass because i cant wash the sweat odor out of it. or a gust of wind and ball of cotton will scratch your paint.
man... scratching your balls on the leather seat should be in the bill of rights

I've seen them roll, every time it was due to driver error, and I know that the ride quailty is garbage. I have to slow down a lot when I wheel with my 2 door buddy because he's bouncing around while i'm cruising like a Cadillac in my JT

I guess seeing them make obstacles look easy that my JT would struggle in, as well as the mystique of being the "original" Jeep make me like them, but at the end of the day it's just a pipe dream because of the cargo space. Even taking 1 kid or 1 dog would kill my space for wheeling

100% of flops and rolls are driver error, lol. I can take you wheeling to spots that my JT and JK will make that 2dr Jeeps won't make.

So thats apparently my #2 unpopular position...2 dr Jeeps suck, even offroad.

That modding your Jeep is ok if you like it that way
That naming your jeep is ok if you want to
That waving to other Jeep drivers is ok if you want to
That adding decals to your jeep is ok if you want to
That lifting your jeep, or not, is ok if you want to
That all jeeps are "real" jeeps
That waving to "mall crawlers" is ok if you want to

That ignoring those that think or act differently than you is the right thing to do because they are not hurting anyone and are enjoying their life and no one should try to take that away from them.

I agree the 2 doors need more wheelbase to be a serious wheeler.

I wouldn't go as far to say they suck off road.

There are spots a 2 door will go where you will be high centered.

Yeah slightly overstated...however - if I was buying today for a wheeler, this is the order I'd buy

Wrangler
Gladiator
Bronco
And while I wouldn't even consider a 2dr a viable option for...anything. I have to put them @ 4 on the list, since nothing after it can out wheel it.

As for being turtled where a 2dr wouldn't...this is a very rare case. Usually just requires another line...same with the JT VS JL.

And lets be honest here, I wouldn't be buying another Jeep without the XR option, so that means no JT and no 2 door

The XR option is just too much value
