Is it possible to run a 15 amp table saw out in the woods using the 3.6 pentastar as a generator? It seems a shame to buy and haul a generator when there appears to be a perfectly good "generator" sitting right there in the engine bay. I assume I would need a 2000 watt inverter to convert the DC to AC. I would hook the inverter directly to the battery and run the saw with the engine running. All my other tools are battery powered so no problem charging them with the inverter, but I think 1500 watts or so (not counting starting up) might be beyond the capabilities of the Gladiator's electrical system.

The factory inverter is rated at 400 watts (about 3.3 amps). You would need a separate inverter that is capable of handling the total draw of your saw.

I have a 2000W inverter (3000 peak) and my 15A table saw has too much draw on startup for it to handle. It starts to spin then the inverter shuts it down after a second. I only say that to point out that 2000W may not be enough even though the math says it should be. Now my saw is a cheap portable kobalt so probably not the softest starting motor out there. It wouldn’t surprise me if more expensive brands require less startup current.
In theory, the engine could support it. A good size winch probably draws more current than the saw as long as everything is wired up correctly.

The engine isn't driving it, the alternator is. If the alternator and inverter were 100% efficient you'd still be pulling 150-160A from the alternator running the saw. I'm not sure how sustainable that is, especially at idle. Maybe use the tazer in winch mode to set the idle at 2k rpm and you'd be ok. A 3k watt generator is cheap compared to the electrical system on the truck that you probably want to drive out of the off grid location you're table sawing things. I'm sure it could be done, but the costs will likely start approaching that of a generator and you're still putting a huge strain on the 12v charging system. What are you needing the table daw for? I've seen many off grid cabins built with a skill saw and a nice cordless one will get the job done these days. The beauty of that is the inverter in the truck will charge power tool batteries easily.

15 amps at 120 volts is 150 amps at 12 volts. I would not want to test my Gladiator generator like that. Get a 3 KW gen at HF and put it in the back

I'm going to build a timber-framed style cabin, but laminating dimensional lumber to make up the timbers. I need the width of the boards to be exact, so I rip them on the table saw (to 5 1/4 inches). Everything else is done with battery powered tools.

The picture shows the top part of a bent.

I thought as much. I was just hoping the electrical system was beefy enough in the Glad.

150amps at 12v is within the rated load of all of the alternators available in the JT, and well below the max sustained draws of many popular winches.
The only issue OP has is again, the factory inverter is only rated for 400w

Do you own the table saw already! Perhaps if not get a battery saw.

I was invited to Dewalt demo center, and I compared the Dewalt yellow 120 volt saw that I also own also to a Dewalt battery table saw , the salesman asked if I ever stopped my saw and I answered yes, I could not stall that battery saw no matter how fast or hard I pushed the wood through….Jack

Yes, I have the DeWalt 7485 table saw. I really like it. It's sturdy, but very portable.

I've been curious if I can charge my E-MTB bikes off of it. Or my Milwaukee batteries. While driving.

So it's quite pricy but festool makes a really cool battery table saw, fully portable, has table extensions and things too. But it costs around 2k I think

I have the 10" version of that. It's a beast.

A solar generator/battery system might be the proper solution for running your saw than the factory inverter.

True enough. Just go buy a cordless table saw.
