I'm currently dreaming of my Glad Rubi, just trying to decide on the engine. I do some crawling, but we are starting to do a lot more overlanding, even considering 86ing our motorhome. Here's my dilemma, we want to take both rigs... My wife was driving a '16 JKUR (I say was because she rolled it on ice on our last trip, and we're waiting on Insurance to make the call totalled or fix), whether it gets fixed or not we see her with either in it or a JLUR, that I am considering flat towing to our destinations so we can have that together time in person and not on the radios... I'm concerned about overheating issues I've heard about/seen and the ED especially when towing/climbing long grades. Hence while I dream, I'm researching but having trouble finding much info...

when the fuel pump failed, it sent metal debri and clogged the injectors, the whole fuel system including injectors had to be replaced
I'm with this a failed pump would not take out the tank, lines, injectors, pump.

All the "stuff" would just stick and clog the fuel filter.

Warranty warranty warranty. I had the same fuel pump issue. Diesel Gladiator. Everything needed to be replaced. Doesn't matter to me it's under warranty.

I thought you got a free loaner with the Jeep Wave program.
You are supposed to plus I paid extra on the 8 year bumper to bumper warranty for rental car coverage. The only problem, EVERY dealer claims to have no loaner or rental cars available no matter how far in advance I want to make an apointment.

When my Gladiator went down I was told they had no rentals. So they called Enterprise rent-a-car and got me a gasser Gladiator. Free of charge for 45 days.

Well now I can add to my problems. Took delivery of ordered JTRD mid April 2021. Here we are Jan and besides ALL of the problems I still have since the major breakdown at 8K miles, now both of my batteries are dead, won't keep a charge and none of the climate controls work, fan doesn't work, temp control doesn't work, blend doors are stuck on dash vents, heat is stuck on high and the faster I drive the more the heat comes out the vents. Start/Stop system doesn't work and says need serviced. Engine light comes on then goes off, getting charging system errors and throttle control issues that both come and go. I have a full page of issues, that I am demanding be fixed, just waiting for a loaner or rental car to come available.

Here is the fun part, I go out to start the Jeep, it tries to turn then my windshield wipers come on, the daytime driving LEDs come on, turn signals and tail lights flash and the start button remains in the run position, will not go to stop so the batteries continue to discharge more. Trying to put a changer on it makes it worse, now the headlights start blinking. Had to call AAA three times this week, dealer says needs to have the Jeep for 2 days to verify batteries are defective but on loaner or rental cars available. Thinking about just replacing at my cost with quality aftermarket batteries but NOT Optima which are CRAP.

Yeah they didn't even offer to do that for me. They have an enterprise office in the dealership but they say they don't have any cars at the time. I guess I am going to have to call Jeep Cares and see if they really do because this is getting ridiculous.

I have a BRAND NEW Sport S Diesel that I was supposed to take delivery of on 12/22/2021. The morning I was supposed to pick it up they told me that there was a CEL that came on and their service team diagnosed it as a fuel pump issue and they have been waiting on back-ordered parts ever since then. I still haven't taken delivery.

I read things like this and it just terrifies me because it makes me feel like "my" new Jeep is already defective and I haven't even signed papers yet. I need to call the dealer now and try and get a better understanding of what is really going on.

Here is what I was told by 3 dealers. Parts availability for diesel engines/systems is almost non-existent. Not like it is a Cummins, it's made in Italy and it seems as if parts are going to make new engines for production orders and not available to send to the states to fix issues. Dealers have been hard pressed to have air filters and water/diesel fuel filters in stock.

My selling dealer has two diesels in the shop for over 30 days. If they figure out what is wrong, it seems as if they can't get parts to fix it.

Sad for sure

I have a ticket open with Jeep - if they can continue to build them, they should be able to get a part for my pre-delivery issue. They just need to source the part from the line vs. their parts inventory. It's not that they don't exist, they're just not in the right channels. It's inexcusable that they cant' get parts to fix people's Jeeps but they keep making new ones.

It's not just dealers. It's a fact that there's a shortage of rentals in many areas - even at rental stores. Dealers have had to sell many that were used as rentals as a result of low inventory. And again, check the WAVE program details -
You get first day, $35, credit toward a loaner. There's no guarantee, and it's not for as long as it takes. Someone posted the actual text from the WAVE document in another thread, or maybe it was this one a couple of pages back.

But the fact is, there is actually a shortage of rentals out there. My son has even had trouble renting cars (he's traveled a lot for work and since his family goes back and forth between the states and Korea for business) Car dealerships can't afford to keep 15 rentals on hand - one of Jeep dealerships on the other side of DSM actually has a rental agency inside their dealership to make it convenient. The dealership doesn't mess with the hassle of rentals (it's a pain in the butt, a lot of legal and insurance stuff) but makes it convenient as one of the major car rental places is just inside their doors.

That is two different supply chains of spare parts for repairs and parts for new build. It is easy to look and make the assumption that if they have parts for new manufacture, then you should have parts for a repair. More things are in motion for new manufacture and poaching parts off that line to supply repair orders gunks up the manufacturing new build process.
